Who? Anybody who shops at grocery stores. What? Saves grocery store shoppers money.

When? Anytime. Where? Local Grocery Stores.

Why? There are people who need to save money so we inform shoppers on what the prices are at

multiple stores on the same item.

Page 3: Dealz for realz

People might not know how much money they

are losing because there are many grocery stores that have the same item with different prices at

each store. This makes people lose money.

How can we inform shoppers on potential savings

when shopping?

Focus Question

From the research that we collected from the interviews, we learned that even if users were to pay money to use our app, they would still save

money when grocery shopping. Some interviewees were willing to pay four dollars and more for our

app.

My team, the DFR Team, is developing a mobile app to help grocery shoppers who want to save money be

informed on which grocery stores will save them the most money on specific items.

Based off of the interviews, we learned that the users save a lot of money when using our app and have suggested multiple things to add to the app

to improve it. Some suggestions were to only include stores that will pay us to be in our app and

to include a floor plan of each store so that the users know where to get items in the store.

When we interviewed people most of them said that they would like the chance to choose what stores that they want to compare the prices of

because having all of the stores would make the app cramped and less useful because there are

many stores that people don’t go to. We made sure to include this in our app to make it more

organized and suitable for the users. We also made sure to have a button that leads to the homescreen

on each screen of the app so that they can have access to all parts of the app. You can access every part of the app by clicking it’s button because each

screen had it’s own button. We made sure to do this so that the app would “flow”. We also included

a splash screen, so that we could advertise our business while they are waiting for the app to

open.

We learned that it is not very easy to make an app. It is a very long and frustrating process to go through. Our app relies heavily on data because we need to know the prices for each item in a store and we also need to be informed of when it changes. We need this information, so that we can keep the users informed on the prices by using a real time table showing what the prices are of different items at different stores. Every time a price changes, we would enter the new price and it would automatically change on the user’s table since it is in real time.

App Design Mock-up

We acquired this idea for the app when someone in our class suggested that we make an app that

involves food. That is when we decided to make an app that compares the prices of different items in a

grocery store. We presented to people at Seattle University who had the job to listen to pitches and decide whether it is worthy to continure or not and

they said that we had a better presentation for them than most adults. We got 1st place in our STEM Expo. Some direct competitors that exist

towards Dealz For Realz are Smoopa, RedLaser, and PriceGrabber.
