Vera Bradley Designs, Inc. (260-482-4673) will open a 2,200 sq.ft. outlet store at Chicago Premium Outlets, located in Aurora, IL, during November. The opening will be the company’s first outlet store, and will offer cotton quilted handbags, luggage, accessories and decorator items designed and manufactured by the company, with a majority of the inventory consisting of factory seconds. The company will also open full-price stores at Kenwood Town Centre in Cincinnati, OH and at Tysons Corner Center in McLean, VA this fall.

Sears Holding Corp. (847-286-2500) will open an Orchard Supply Hardware store in Santa Rosa, CA during October, but has delayed its opening of a 38,730 sq.ft. hardware store at Alameda Towne Centre in Alameda, CA. The company currently operates 86 stores throughout CA.

Margaritaville Holdings, LLC (561-659-0893), through a licensee, will open a 34,000 sq.ft. Margaritaville restaurant at Stampede Trail, a center located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada currently under redevelopment. The restaurant, inspired by the music of Jimmy Buffett, is slated to open during 2012.

Publix Super Markets, Inc. (863-688-1188) will open seven Publix supermarkets in former Albertsons locations by January 2010, including stores in Palm Harbor, Pinellas Park, Seminole, South Pasadena and Tampa, FL that will replace smaller existing stores. The company acquired 17 Albertsons sites during August 2008 and converted 10 of them to Publix stores during the past 12 months. The company also plans to open additional locations during 2010, and currently operates 1,008 stores throughout AL, FL, GA, SC and TN.

Whole Foods Market, Inc. (512-477-4455) plans to open a Whole Foods Market at the intersection of Almaden Expressway and Blossom Hill Road in San Jose, CA during August of 2010. The grocery store was originally scheduled to open this month but the company’s development schedule has been delayed by one year. The store was originally planned as a 60,500 sq.ft. store but the footprint has been reduced to 50,000 sq.ft. The company also plans to open a 44,000 sq.ft. Whole Foods Market at the intersection of Stockton Avenue and The Alameda in San Jose three to six months after the Almaden Expressway store opens.

Macy’s, Inc. (513-579-7000) will open a Macy’s department store in a former Gottschalks location at Visalia Mall, located in Visalia, CA, during the fall, with the company planning for a November opening.

CVS Caremark Corp. (877-265-7325) will open a CVS pharmacy at the intersection of U.S. 64 and Houston Levee Road in Cordova, TN during the early part of 2010 and another in Memphis, TN during the middle of 2010. The openings will mark the company’s entry into western TN. The company currently operates 7,000 stores nationwide throughout 41 states.

Freshii Development, Inc. (312-636-2282), through its master franchisee, plans to open a total of four Freshii restaurants this year and five during 2010 in the Chicago, IL metropolitan area. Additionally, the company plans to open restaurants throughout CA, CO, IL, PA, WY and Washington, DC. The company currently operates 15 quick-service restaurants with a menu of build-your-own salads, burritos, wraps, rice bowls, yogurts and soups, throughout Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Chicago, IL.
