Paterson.• I do not like the impact that drugs have had on people that I

know and people I have just seen or heard about. The drugs can mess up your whole life or kill you just from trying it one time. If I can keep the drugs away from someone, that'll help them stay clean, and could save someone's life.

• In order to get a better understanding of my chosen career field as a DEA Agent, I will be researching (nature of work, working conditions, training, job outlook, earnings, and a back up career)

Nature of Work (Responsibilities)

Investigate crimes Collect and secure evidence from crime

scenes Conduct interviews with suspects and

witnesses Obtain warrants and arrest suspects Prepare cases and testify in court

Working Condition

• Physical: needs patience, courageous, and physically fit

• Outdoors: in the field making arrests• Indoors: testifying in court, doing paperwork• Hours: can constantly be called in, usually 8

hour shifts• Conditions: Stressful, Potential of bodily harm,

physically demanding

• Education: GED or gradated from high school and graduate of their agency’s training academy

• Graduate from high school then go to college• Where I am going: The University of Toledo for

criminal justice• High school classes I took: Business law, Law

Conclusion

After researching this field, I would still like to be a DEA agent. One thing I really am looking forward to is getting the drugs off the streets. The one thing I am not going to enjoy that much is testifying in court with the lawyers questioning me. Over all I have learned that I need to get a good education and be dedicated to get in that field. I have also learned that a back up plan is always good to have.
