The story follows an enter- taining narrative about women’s routine stops to Truvy’s Hair Salon in Chin- quapin, Louisiana. This is where we meet our main characters, and if you are considered “someone” in the town, this is your salon! Eve- rybody keeps up with the whispers, so the salon is always filled with gossip and hilarious repartee. In the beginning of act one, we meet a new face to the salon, Annelle (Renee Lierow), with beauty shop owner, Truvy (Rebecca Lapp), and all of the persistent costumers who spill the tea on the town. There is Clairee (Alice Carbaugh), who is an eccentric millionaire and for- mer Mayor’s wife, as well as the wise-cracking, know it all, Ouiser Boudreaux (Kitty Reel), and the “social leader”, M’Lynn (Kim Jenkins), along with her engaged daughter, Shelby (Megan Cobb). This play is full of all kinds of free advice, verbal antics, and humor all around. However, in the second act, we stumble on Shelby’s secret which is seen as revealing and alarming. The Louisiana women become a figurative support group for each other. We see all of the character's true personalities come out in raw form. It is a guarantee you will both laugh and cry and laugh until you cry. Creative director, Kimberly Tyner Jones, has directed many plays such as “Rumors”, “Dixie Swim Club”, and “Lend me a Tenor”. If you have seen any of these previous productions, you know this is not one you want to miss! Show times will be: March 8, 9, 15 & 16 @ 7:30PM Matinees are March 9 @ 1:00PM & March 17 @ 2:30PM . The show features two dozen rousing bluegrass songs played and sung by the Sanders family, a traveling group making it's return to performing aſter a five-year hiatus. All audionees should be prepared to sing a 16 bar cut of a song in the style of the show.
