Dear Friends,

Welcome to second edition of Twitter for

this Society year 2012-13 of DCI

(covering the period of July-Sep). Our Half

yearly performance has more or less been

on course with immense support from all

Office bearers, CWC and Extended

Committee members’ whole hearted

support. Some of the stand out activities undertaken during this

period are listed below :

• Student Activities in GB Pant & School of Planning and

Architecture

• K-12 Activity at Happy Model Public School

• DCI-IIE Workshops

o Fundamentals of applied Physchometry

o Duct Design & Air Distribution

o Building Information Modeling

o Integration of DG Set Security Fire Alarm and other

Building Services Ingreated BMS System

• Product Presentations

o Systemair – By Mr. Richard Bietmirza

o Sevcon-LTI – By Mr. Gaurav Vasudev

• Annual General Meeting was held with Audited Accounts of

previous financial year adopted and Nomination Committee

for next Society year was approved by members. ETA and

Schnieder made Corporate presentation of their respective

conglomerates.

• IIE/DCI entered into an agreement with CAD Studio to

undertake 40 hours 7 day course on Revit MEP training

course

This edition of Twitter covers an important topic of Commercial

Kitchen Ventilation. An adequately designed kitchen ventilation

system should achieve the following objectives.

• Remove cooking fumes at the source, i.e. as near to the

cooking equipment as possible.

• Remove excess hot air and introduce incoming cool clean

air so that a comfortable environment is achieved.

Inadequate ventilation can cause stress, contributing to

unsafe systems of work and high staff turnover.

• Ensure that the air movement in the kitchen does not cause

discomfort.

• Provide sufficient air for complete combustion at fired

appliances, and prevent the risk of carbon monoxide

accumulating.

• Be easy to clean, avoiding the build-up of fat residues and

blocked air inlets which lead to loss of efficiency and

increase risk of fire.

• Be quiet and vibration free.

With Season's Greetings and Best

Wishes for a very Happy New Year,

from the Twitter team.

Workshop on BIMIt gives us immense pleasure to inform the readers

that under the patronage of Mr. Sunil Kher, a

workshop on BIM (Building Information Modeling)

was successfully conducted on 15th September’

2012 at India International Center, New Delhi.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Virtual

Design & Construction (VDC), as the name

suggests, is enabling the developers and other

stakeholders to reap the benefits of the technology subject and details presented by the guest speaker Mr. Parveen Sharma and avoid the project delays caused due to poor from M/s Intec Infocom (www.intecinfocom.com) were very informative design coordination. The BIM technology helps in and appreciated by the participants. Mr. Parveen Sharma is an Architect optimizing the designs and integrating with other with Masters Degrees in Computer Science and Computer Applications applications to extract intelligence for all participants (M. Sc & MCA). of a construction project.

The workshop was attended by Mr. Sunil Kher, Mr. Prabhat Goel, Mr. V K The workshop was attended by the participants Seth, Mr. Dhiraj Rastogi & Mr. Sunil Yadav. Mr Dhiraj Rastogi was the from various organizations (DLF, Fortis, Godrej, driving force behind the success of the workshop . Special thanks to Mr. Blue Cost Group, AECOM, Elumatech, etc.). The Sunil Kher and the DCI secretariat for making the workshop a success.

IIE Delhi has started its 14th batch in advance diploma

course in HVAC&R from 7th August 2012. We have very
