WelCome to tHe Digital ConCert Hall

Once again in the 2012/13 season you can enjoy virtually all of the Berliner Philharmoniker’s concerts via the Internet in superb HD quality. Chief conductor Sir Simon Rattle will perform great symphonic works from the Classical era to the present day. In addition, he will conduct such vocal masterpieces as Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, Mozart’s Magic Flute and Britten’s War Requiem as well as the music of such major but too infrequently heard composers as Witold Lutosławski and Paul Hindemith.— Among the season’s guest conductors are many who have been working regularly with the Berliner Philharmoniker in recent years, from Claudio Abbado to Mariss Jansons and Christian Thielemann. Others such as Riccardo Chailly and Paavo Järvi are returning to the Philharmonie rostrum after a longer absence. Leading instrumental soloists in the new season lineup include Lisa Batiashvili, Murray Perahia, Maurizio Pollini and the season’s ArtistinResidence, Leonidas Kavakos.— And, once again, the Digital Concert Hall will also be showcasing many items beyond the Berliner Philharmoniker’s regular offerings, including presentations of the orchestra’s Education Programme, concerts by visiting youth orchestras, artist interviews and much more. Some 40 times this season you will be able to join Berlin Philharmonie audiences via the Internet. And in our video archive you’ll discover another 150 live concerts, documentaries and wideranging bonus material.— Opened in 2009, the Digital Concert Hall is generously supported by Deutsche Bank, which has sponsored the Berliner Philharmoniker since 1989 and makes possible the orchestra’s Education Programme. Our virtual concert venue remains the only one of its kind in existence. We cordially invite you to explore the world of the Berliner Philharmoniker in this new way and to enjoy timeless music in great interpretations.
