❊ Aligning the paper passage lines

After preparing this machine for binding operations, checkthat the paper passage line is aligned to that of theupstream unit. When paper conveyed from the upstream unit is conveyedto this machine, check that there is even space betweenthe left and right side joggers and paper. If not even, adjust the position of this machine to avoidpaper jams.Move this machine at other fine adjustment screens of thefine adjustment menu, until the space becomes even.( Refer to page 60.)

When paper is more than 140 mm/5.51 inch wide, thestandard stitching width is determined by the ratio of 1:2:1.Stitching width is the center to center distance betweenthe two stitches. However, if the stitching position liesinside the stitch prohibited area, it will be set at a positionavoiding this area.

For example, if the paper width is 240 mm/9.45 inch, stitching is carried out at the 60 mm/2.36 inch and 180 mm/7.09 inch positions from the paper edge.

When less than 140 mm/5.51 inch, the stitching width is70 mm/2.76 inch (minimum stitching width).

The stitching width (the ratio) can be changed. ( Referto page 58.)

When stitched sets are not ejected to the side stitching stacker smoothly

Are the folding side guides properly positioned for the paper width? If too narrow, ejection defects or paper jam may occur.Perform adjustments using the [Folding Side Guide position fine adjustment key]. ( Refer to page 59.)

Is the height of the saddle stitching guide appropriate?Adjust so that it is higher than the paper thickness. ( Refer to page 66.)

If the sets stop in front of the saddle stitching stacker, move the folding back guide forward using the [Folding BackGuide position fine adjustment key]. ( Refer to page 60.)

When stacking is uneven on the side stitching stacker

Adjust the stacker guide position according to the paper size. If the leading edge of the set is caught by the stitches of the sets ejected first, adjust the position of the stopper

smaller than the paper size.

When side (corner) stitched sets frequently ride onto the stopper

If side (corner) stitched sets frequently ride onto the stopper, slow down the feeding speed from the collator.
