Rules of Timelines• #1 You always draw timelines with an arrow in the front and
an arrow in the back• #2 AD or CE, BC or BCE
– AD (Anno Domini or Year of our Lord referring to the year of Christ’s birth).
– The meaning of BC is Before Christ. – CE is a recent term. It refers to Common Era and is used in place
of A.D. – BCE means Before Common Era.
• #3 Long-ago left, Recent right• #4 Century Rule: 4th century = 300’s 21st century= 2000’s • #5 BC/BCE—the smaller the number the more recent it isAD/CE—the bigger the number the more recent it is

• Then, I will call up people to the board to put the dates in order.
• We will record the dates on the first line of our timeline.
