NAP formulation and alignment with the Strategy

The true purpose of alignment of action programmes is the effective

and practical implementation of the Strategy:

o Achievable goals: strategic and operational objectives of the

Strategy

o Concrete actions and funding requirements

o Specific targets with timeframes: 2008 to 2018

o Implementation framework and specific roles

o Monitoring and evaluation mechanisms: performance and impact

indicators

Key actions in an aligned NAP

• Raise awareness and expertise on DLDD at national level

• Facilitate involvement of CSOs in DLDD-related initiatives

• Revise and align the national action programme with the Strategy

• Establish mechanisms for synergies among the Rio conventions at

national level

• Establish national monitoring and knowledge-sharing systems

• Implement capacity-building plans and initiatives

• Develop Integrated Investment Frameworks

• Formulate and submit technical and financial assistance requests to

bilateral and multilateral donors

Number of ACPs whose investment frameworks, established within the IFS devised by the GM or within other integrated financing strategies, reflect leveraging national, bilateral and multilateral resources for combating desertification and land degradation.

By 2014, at least 50 per cent of ACPs have developed integrated investment frameworks
