ThermometerIt can measure a low
temperature, because its freezing point is low (-1150C).
It can measure the temperature precisely, because it has large expansion coefficient.
Its expansion is regulary
It cannot measure a high temperature, because its boiling point is low (780C).
It makes wet the wall of its place.
It is colourless so it must be given dyestuff in order to be visible.

ThermometerIt is visible, because its
colour is silvery shining. Its expansion is regular. It does not make wet the
wall of this placeIt can measure a high
temperature, because its boiling point is high (356,90C).
It can measure the temperature quickly and precisely.
It cannot measure very low temperature, because its freezing point is high (-400C).
Mercury is poisonous, so it is harmful if its tube is broken.
Its price is very high.
Clinic ThermometerThis thermometer is usually used to
measure a human body temperature. The tube of the thermometer is filled with mercury. The scale of the thermometer is designed from 350C until 420C, consisdering the human body temperature never lower than 350C and never higher than 420C. In clinic thermometer there is found the part of capillary tube which is narrowing. It is meant in order to mercury which has shown the number which has been measured, it does not decrease itself. So, the reading of body temperature can be done after the thermometer is taken from the under of tongue or arm. To return in decreasing the mercury of thermometer, it must be fluttered so the mercury level is back to the number 35 as the initial point of measurement.
Wall ThermometerThis thermometer is used to measure a room temperature. Usually, the thermometer is set on straight position on the wall in a room. This wall thermometer of the measurement has two measurement scales, those are celsius and fahrenheit scales.
Six-Bellani Maximum and Minimum Thermometer
This termometer is used to measure a maximum temperature, mainly inside glass house used for plantation as research object. The thermometer was found by James Six (1731-1793) an English scientist in the last of 18 century then it developed by Angelo Bellani. The thermometer consists of alcohol (now it is used creosote oil), mercury, and small steel pointer which is equiped by light spring as its holder.
Gas Thermometer In principle, if the temperature increase,
the gas pressure rises and the resulting difference is greater heights in the thermometer. Because the gas expands larger than the liquid gas thermometer is more accurate than a thermometer liquid. In addition, the gas can measure a lower temperature and higher than the thermometer liquid. wide temperature range is from -2500C to 15000C.
Thermistor Thermometers Working principle is that when the temperature increase, the thermistor resistance falls. Electrical resistance was measured with a circuit that contains a scale calibrated in degrees of temperature. Advantage of this thermometer is that it can be connected to another circuit or a computer. Disadvantage are limited temperature range, which is -250C to 1800C.
Platinum ThermometerPrinciple of this thermometer is that when the temperature increases, electrical resistance of platinum rose. Electrical resistance is measured accurately by a series of bridges. Advantage of platinum thermometer is the wide temperature range (-2500C to 15000C), thorough, and sensitive. Disadvantage of platinum thermometer is not reading the temperature directly. Reading slowly, so not suitable for measuring temperature swings.
Thermocouple Thermometer This thermometer consists of two wires made of different metal types and connected to a amperemeter. Working principle is different temperatures will produce different electrical currents. Advantage of this thermometer is a large temperature range (from -100 degrees Celsius to 1500 degrees Celsius), the size of a small thermometer, can measure temperature quickly, and can be connected to another circuit or a computer. Disadvantage is less rigorous when compared with the constant volume gas thermometer and the thermometer platinum.
Bimetallic Thermometer
This thermometer contains a piece of thin bimetallic spiral. principle, the greater the temperature, the more curved bimetallic pieces to show a greater temperature.
PyrometerPyrometer the thermometer used to measure very high temperatures (above 1000 degrees Celsius), such as metal melting temperature or the Sun's surface temperature working principle of this instrument is to measure the radiation emitted by the object. There are two kinds of pyrometer, pyrometer optical and pyrometer traditional radiation pyrometer.
