Prof BhaskarRamamurthi is the Director, Indian Institute of Technology Madras.

Prof BhaskarRamamurthi got his B.Tech in Electronics from IIT Madras in 1980, and his M.S. and Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at Santa Barbara, in 1982 and 1985 respectively. After working at AT&T Bell Laboratories for a couple of years, he joined the faculty of IIT Madras, his alma mater in 1986. He took over as Director, IIT Madras in September 2011.

His area of specialization includes communications and signal processing.His research work includes wireless networks, modulation, wireless data, audio andvideo compression.

He is a fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering and of the Institute of Electrical Electronics Engineers (IEEE).He was awarded the Vasvik award for Electronic Sciences and Technology for the year 2000, the Tamil Nadu scientist award for Engineering and Technology for the year 2003, India semiconductor association, TechnoVisionary award for the year 2011, Doynes of Madras award for the year 2014 and ACCS-CDAC foundation award for the year 2015.

Prof M K Surappa, hails from an agricultural family in Mirle, in Mysore District. He completed his school education in Mirle in Government schools. He obtained BSc degree (1970) from Yuvaraja’s College of Mysore University. He joined the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 1970 and received BE degree in Metallurgy in 1973, M.S and Ph. D degrees from the faculty of Engineering in 1976 and 1980 respectively.

Pro. Surappa joined then newly established Regional Laboratory, Trivandrum in 1979 as senior scientist and worked there for two years. During 1981-87, he was Research Associate/Engineer at Drexel University (USA), Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge (UK) and Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (Switzerland). He returned to the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, as an Assistant Professor in 1987 and rose to the position of Professor in 1998. He was Honorary Secretary of Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology during 2004-09. He has served as Founder Director of Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar for a period of six years (2009-15). He served as Dean, Faculty of Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science during the year 2016-2017. He assumed the post of Vice Chancellor of Anna University on 12th April 2018. He is also Honorary Professor at the Indian Institute of Science.

Prof. Surappa has made outstanding R&D contributions to the Science and Technology of Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs). For over three decades, he has pursued many innovative investigations on synthesis, processing-microstructure-property correlation and application development of MMCs based on light alloy matrices.These include:

• (a) Development of “Stir Cast Process” for the fabrication of aluminium matrix composites. Process developed by Prof. Surappa at the Indian Institute of Science is often hailed as an Indian Innovation by MMC producers across the world.

• (b) Development of innovative technique for synthesis of metal-ceramic nano composites by in-situ pyrolysis of polymer pre-cursors in the liquid melt. He has carried out all his research work entirely in India. Prof Surappa has published 100 research papers in International journals and presented nearly 150 papers in national and international conferences and has authored a book. He has secured one US and 3 Indian patents.

Dr Asharaf S is the founder and Professor-in-Charge of Kerala Blockchain Academy, a Government of Kerala initiative, under Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management – Kerala. Dr Rajendra Kumar, IASPrincipal Secretary - MSME Government of Tamil Nadu

Dr Rajendra Kumar is a senior officer in the Indian Administrative Service (I.A.S.) and is currently working as the Principal Secretary/Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries and Commerce in the Government of Tamil Nadu. Prior to this, he was the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT). As the CMD ofELCOT, he led the ICT infrastructure, e-governance, ICT procurement and IT industry promotionactivities within the state.

Earlier, he has worked as the Joint Secretary (e-Governance) in the Ministry ofElectronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. He has led the entireDigital India, e-governance and technology development for Indian languages initiatives at thenational level and has been responsible for the overall conceptualization and implementationof the flagship Digital India Programme and the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) of theGovernment of India.

He has conceptualized and implemented several major e-governanceinitiatives in the country. These include the new Digital Locker initiative aimed at providing aprivate space on a public cloud to all residents for storing and sharing government issueddocuments, the new Mobile Seva project aimed at bringing all government services on themobile platform, E-Pramaan for electronic authentication of all users of e-governance services,and localization aimed at promoting the usage of Indian languages in e-governance and mobilebased services. Multi-floor Manufacturing Complex with 4 lakh sq.ft. at an approximate cost of Rs.78 crores designed for plug & play operations by the operators in Precision Engineering/Aerospace/Defence Manufacturing in the Aerospace Park developed by SIPCOT in Sriperumbudur.Nodal Agency – Aerospace & Defence - TIDEL Park Ltd has been nominated as the Nodal Agency for promotion of Aerospace and Defence (A&D) Sector in Tamil Nadu.
