SUPPLEMENTAL COOLING

As server loads grow, cooling capacity

must increase beyond existing room

capabilities. Data Center Resources offers

several options for providing additional

cooling without the expense and disruption

of a new CRAC unit. These include

in-row cooling units, self-contained cooling

cabinets and portable cooling units.

MAXIMIZE COOLING EFFICIENCY

Managing the supply and return air from

CRAC/CRAH units is the key to maximizing

cooling infrastructure. Higher set points,

higher return temperature and lower fan

speeds all affect capacity and efficiency.

AIRFLOW MANAGEMENT

Managing the airflow around server

cabinets is critical to prevent hardware

from overheating. This includes getting

sufficient supply air to servers and

preventing exhaust air from back of rack

to flow through the cabinet to the server

intake. Solutions to manage airflow include

blanking panels, expanding foam tape and

high-flow floor tiles.

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software is often prescribed by consultants to

active cabinets, cables or power
