• DAF is an ONC Standards and Interoperability Framework (S&I) Initiative – http://wiki.siframework.org/Data+Access+Framework+Homepage – http://

• DAF approached IHE to leverage existing IHE profiles and identify gaps and potential new profiles for ubiquitous data access – Presented to IHE ITI, IHE PCC and IHE QRPH in October 2013– Decision was made to allow IHE PCC to lead the effort with required

support from the other committees.

• IHE Technical Meetings: November 12th -13th in Oakbrook, IL– DAF technical proposal was presented as a project to the Patient

Care Coordination (PCC) Technical Committee– Proposal was accepted by PCC technical committee with the

objective of developing a whitepaper that provides guidance on the DAF Framework to be reviewed at the IHE Meetings the week of February 10, 2014 in Vienna.

• IHE/S&I Joint DAF Technical Workgroup will launch on Monday, November 25, 2013 at 10:00 AM (EST)– Keith Boone (IHE’s PCC editor) and (Dragon) Nagesh Bashyam S&I’s

Technical Support Lead will be leading this effort

IHE / S&I DAF Joint Work Group – Scope and Charter

In Scope:– Identify and elaborate on existing IHE profiles that can be

leveraged to meet the DAF (LDAF and Targeted) and IHE query use cases with a focus on modularity and substitutability

– Identify the gaps in the existing profiles to meet the use cases and requirements outlined

– Identify and discuss IHE Future Roadmap that includes emerging standards such as FHIR and how that would fit into the DAF framework

Out of Scope: – Harmonization of existing profiles– Development of new profiles – Development of implementation guides

• The DAF Initiative will kick off the following activities once the IHE Technical White paper reaches a level of maturity that it can be consumed by the community:

– Identify needs for additional work groups based on • Identified gaps • Identified new profiles or emerging standards• Need for additional implementation guides that would be

necessary for DAF pilots

• The above activities will be based on the IHE Technical White Paper which will serve a good solid technical foundation
