Head Lice Check Please be aware we have had some recent cases of head lice. Please check your children and treat if necessary. Children with head lice are required to have their hair cleared of lice before returning to school.

This can be achieved by using an insecticide product purchased from the local pharmacy and used according to the manufactur-er’s instruction. This must be followed by physically removing the lice from the hair after the recommended time period using a special nit comb. Hair will need to be checked on a daily basis for the following 10 days to ensure that all lice and eggs have been removed from the hair. Refer to the Department of Health, head lice fact sheet at www.public.health.wa.gov.au

Smith Family Toy and Book Appeal During the forthcoming holiday season, gift giving is often a traditional part of various family celebrations. Sadly, hundreds of Western Australian children will go without receiving a gift simply because their families can't afford it. Once again our school will be supporting The Smith Family’s Toy and Book Appeal. With your help, The Smith Family aim to deliver new toys and books to over 2700 families in need around Western Australia. Darlington Primary school has registered to provide at least 100 new toys and 100 new books for primary school aged children. The Smith Family is particularly in need of new toys and books for children aged 9 – 12 years. Further information in the newsletter outlines the types of gifts that are appropriate. Please see the information for a list of suggested gifts and also information about items that cannot be accepted. Please note, second hand items cannot be accepted.

There will be a collection point at the office. All toys and books should be brought to school, not wrapped, before December 6.

Gold, Red, Blue Green – less than two weeks to go!

Darlington Primary School has four factions. This is a way to group

students from Kindergarten to Year 6 to foster team spirit and to

create a competitive environment to increase motivation to excel.

Our Student Leaders have suggested that we now name the Fac-

tions. Community members, parents, staff and students are now

invited to consider this historic opportunity and submit your ide-

as. Please write or email your ideas for the naming of the four

factions and provide a short rationale (just a few sentences!)

Your ideas need to be submitted to the office by the end of

November.

Are you going to be here in 2020?

It is likely that some families will be considering moving schools

for next year. It would be good to know if you are changing

schools or thinking about moving on so that we can accurately

plan our classes for next year.

Please let the office know if you are not returning next year.

A humungous congratulations to our triumphant Darlington Athletics Team! All students are to be commended on their commitment to their training, it certainly paid off - with the team taking out the Overall Championship and Track & Field Trophy. A massive thank you to Mr Scott for his endless help in training the team and preparations leading up to the carnival. To all par-ent helpers, on both days – a gigantic thank you for all your help and support! Congratulations once again to the Interschool Team and to the below students on taking out champion and runner up awards! Important note from the Dental Van

The Dental Van will be arriving at the Clayton View Primary School (Koongamia) on Monday 2nd December and remain there until approximately the end of Term 1 2020. Following this we will move onto Helena Valley Primary School. We close our doors over the Christmas period starting 3pm Tuesday 24th December 2019, reopening on Monday 3rd February 2020. If you experience a dental emergency after the 24th December or during the Christmas period please contact 1800 098 818 for information on dental emergencies. Our contact details are as always 0407 594 254 (not text/SMS enabled). Just to let all the Year 6 students know they remain eligible for free dental care in the School Dental Service along with all other high school students up until the end of year 11 or the age of 17. If you have sought private dental care please contact us to with-draw consent (so no further appointments are sent to you unless requested). Please ensure that if your contact details change that you inform us as we rely heavily on being able to contact you. We do not have access to the schools information so parents need to inform us if addresses or numbers change. Thank you and Merry Christmas.
