DARKNESS cannot drive out DARKNESS
Only LIGHT can do that.
HATE cannot drive out HATE
Only LOVE can do that. (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.)
In last month’s Valentine’s Day article I dealt with the call and power of love. It
is love that changes the world for good. Love is at the heart of Christ’s life, death and
resurrection. Since God so loved the world, we are called to be His messengers of
love. Yet love seems to be sadly lacking in the world today. Instead we are
surrounded by hatred in all shapes and forms. It can be seen each night on the news.
It has crept into our relationships, our families and our churches.
What happens when people are blinded by hatred? It becomes the filter in
which they view the world. As Ezekiel’s states, “their heart is a heart of stone instead
of a heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36:216. Only God can change a heart.
At President George H. W. Bush’s funeral back in December, Senator Alan
Simpson stated that President Bush hated no one. Then he spoke, these words;
“Hatred corrodes the container it is carried in.”
This may be the truest statement of all time.
Proverbs 10:12 “Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.”
Proverbs 10:18 “He who conceals hatred with lying lips and spreads slander is a fool.”
I John 3:14, 15 “Anyone who hates a brother or a sister is a murderer, and you know
that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.”
Christ Jesus does not want us drawn into the hatred of others. One of the
saddest things I have seen in life is when the hatred of one person is so strong that it
hurts someone the hater professes to love.
I came across those words of Dr. King and they ring true today. The answer is
not more hatred, but more love. The answer is not more darkness, but light.
Remember that hatred begets hatred, love begets love.
Be careful what you are begetting!
— Pastor Rick

March 14th. Thank you for your continued support of this important ministry.
FOOD PANTRY & BACKPACK MINISTRIES: Please remember these two important
missions of our church. We have people each week that come to our Pantry for boxes of food.
Each week we deliver food to Lakeshore Middle School for 15 students, so that they will have
food over the weekend. The following items are some that we run out of quickly: small sized
boxes of cereal, microwavable spaghettios or ravioli, “Complete” microwavable meals, Vienna
sausages, and pop-tarts. Thank you for your donations.
TARBORO NC: We are working on setting up our next trip to Tarboro NC to continue the
restoration work from the hurricanes. If you would like to join in, please see Barbara Odom.
TAYLORSVILLE NC HOME: A family is in need. Much money will be required to accomplish
God’s plan. We continue to look at what the best options are for the family, present & future. All options are being investigated. The ultimate goal is to provide a safe, healthy, Christian environment where the parents can successfully care for their daughter as well as themselves. We need everyone’s support in prayer, physically as well as monetarily.
MSK FREE FOOD MARKET!! Exciting update to the MSK Free Food Market !!! MSK Market has a Pantry added!! What does this mean? Visitors will be asked to complete a brief application process, vetted by the Mooresville Soup Kitchen, then they will receive FROZEN MEATS & CANNED VEGGIES when the foods are available, in addition to the market items. Major WIN-WIN for our visitors. Please be sure to share this information with anyone you know that are having trouble making ends meet. It is open to everyone. Questions? Please contact Barbara Odom.

LENTEN JUDAS BAGS... “Then Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went to
the chief priests in order to betray Him to them. and when they heard it they were glad,
and promised to give him money. And he sought an opportunity to betray Him.” Mark
14:10-11 Judas accepted 30 Tyrian shekels from arresting Roman soldiers by identify-
ing Jesus with a kiss. The Judas bags represent an opportunity to exchange evil for good.
As in past years, Judas bags will be available in the Narthex for pickup at the Ash
Wednesday service as well as at Sunday services. During the season of Lent, which lasts from Ash
Wednesday until Holy Week, please fill the bag with coins or dollars. The money will be donated to Habitat

The plain truth: Volunteers are needed. If you can help, please call Linda Ketchie.
There are a lot of quiet ministries that need an hour or two a week, just once a month.
Some areas that need help immediately: Nursery on Sunday Mornings. If you could offer
help once a month, or once every other month—THAT IS FANTASTIC!! THANK YOU for
being a part of the Church of the future, and the Church of the NOW.
The annual Triplett BBQ in October. It’s true — Triplett will have a BBQ this fall.
Under the guidance of Mr. Dale Davis, the Church is embracing this annual fundraiser. Please save the date
and sign up for just a few hours of service. This fundraiser benefits the entire church.
The pit-cooked BBQ is DELICIOUS.

I believe in miracles! If you feel you can help please contact our Director, Terry Willis at 704-663-1102 or stop by and see her in person. We will spring forward on March 10th, turn green on March 17th, wish Dr. Seuss a Happy Birthday, play TOTS Basketball, Mighty Kicks soccer and learn about Jesus. Triplett CDC really is a special place to be!
