    WELCOME It is with great pleasure that we welcome Daramalan College Rowing to New Zealand. This is an exciting new sports development for Total Tours and we will strive to meet the high standards we set for ourselves with your other tours !!! !! !!!!!INTRODUCTORY NOTES Weather: September / October is spring in New Zealand. The weather can be very variable with temperatures here in the South Island ranging from freezing to warm. New Zealand is a difficult country to be totally prepared for. It is suggested you come prepared for very cold conditions and hope for better! !Laundry: While at Adams House a full laundry service is provided.. Coin operated laundry facilities are available at your other accommodation providers !Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included daily throughout your itinerary. Breakfasts will all be at your accommodation and are continental (typically cereal, toast and spreads, tea/coffee), lunches are packed and are provided at your accommodation to be collected

  • each day as you leave breakfast, dinners at your accommodation are two course (main course and dessert) !Security/valuables: This is your own responsibility. Valuables have been stolen before. Please never assume that it will be okay to leave valuables unattended or gear rooms unlocked. Every attempt will be made to assist you with your own security. !Liaison: Total Tours staff will be available 24 hours. Please use the cell phone numbers on the front page. Our staff will not always be with you during your activities but we will check in with you each day, either in the evening to discuss the days events and go over the next day, or in the morning. !Equipment/boats: Boats will be provided at each rowing venue.     Welcome to Ko Tane Living Maori Village at Willowbank Wildlife Reserve , Christchurch, where maori culture and conservation meet to give a unique glimpse into the way of life of the SouthIsland Ngai Tahu Maori people before the arrival of theEuropeans. Experience the thrill of the wero, the traditional challenge to visitors, as you are brought into the sacred precinct of Tane, Maori God of the Forests. Hear the haunting traditional call, the Karanga, performed by a wahine (woman) as the powhiri (ritual of arrival) begins, allowing you to enter our hidden enclave. Listen to a tane (male) explain the customs of the Ngai Tahu tribe as you visit the Living Village and witness an ancient way of life where Maori struggled to survive in the harsh conditions of the most southerly of the Polynesian Pacific Islands.   • THURSDAY 02 OCTOBER CHRISTCHURCH/MT COOK ! Breakfast at the hostel. Your packed lunches will be available to collect after breakfast. Then check out. ! Depart for Mt Cook. Todays journey will take you from sea level to close to the highest point of New Zealand. Youll begin with the flat green tranquility of the Canterbury Plains, but it wont be long before you climb to the tussocky wilds of the high country. Amazing turquoise lakes announce your arrival in the Aoraki Mt Cook region. We recommend a short stop at Lake Tekapo. Then continue to Mt Cook - New Zealands highest mountain, where accommodation is confirmed for one night. !! Accommodation: Mt Cook Backpacker Lodge

Some free time this afternoon prior to making your own way to the Skyline Gondola base !1600 SKYLINE GONDOLA AND LUGE Reputed to be the steepest lift in the Southern Hemisphere, the gondola carries visitors high above Queenstown to the Skyline complex located on Bob's Peak. Numerous observation decks around the complex offer breathtaking views of Coronet Peak & The Remarkables, over Queenstown and across Lake Wakatipu to Cecil and Walter Peaks. Truly magnificent and awe-inspiring. Once you are at the top its time to hit the luge track - the scenery's a blur!

    Hurtle down a winding downhill track through the trees. Race through the bends, or pull in for a breather and enjoy the panorama. Burn it up on the advanced track or cruise sedately down the scenic track. Then hop on the chairlift and do it all again. Skyline Luge - it's 800 metres of fast-paced freedom.Once is never enough!

  • ! This afternoon depart your hotel onboard the Skippers Canyon Jet coach - please dress warmly!! SKIPPERS CANYON SCENIC TOUR AND JET Journey slowly by 4WD down the historic and stunning Skippers Road as you

    weave your way to the Shotover River at Deep Creek. Arriving at Deep Creek, gear up with life jackets and spray jackets then sit back, hold on and try to relax as your driver navigates the sheer canyon walls along the Shotover River as well as the mining dredges and sheet piles left by the miners through Skippers Canyon over a century ago. With skill and speed you will negotiate the narrow river channels, skimming over shallow 6 deep river beds, when suddenly you are going sideways, backwards, sideways and back facing the way you were going, WOW, thats a Hamilton Spin, 360 spin, as the boat turns in its own length. Then onwards for a refreshing cup of tea or coffee with 5th generation local residents Winky and Jerry Hohneck, and an opportunity to be shown around the Sainsbury gold claim and a chance to try gold panning for yourself. This is a truly unique Queenstown experience

  • MILFORD SOUND DAY TOUR Journey into the heart of Milford Sound where youll experience the world- famous fiord in all its natural glory -surrounded by dense rainforest, glacier- carved valleys and beautiful waterfalls. Leaving Queenstown travel in comfort through rugged mountain terrain past Te Anau, a quite town on the shores of the largest lake in the South Island. Journey through the Southern Alps and along the picturesque Eglinton Valley, a place of ancient alpine forest and gushing waterfalls and one of only a few road-accessible glacier valleys in New Zealand.
