HANDCRAFTED IN THE COTSWOLDS

David Hunt Lighting is one of the UK’s longest surviving established lighting

manufacturers. Based in the Cotswolds for the last 100 years, David Hunt

Lighting is best known for designing and manufacturing wholly original

products. Our design team generate a stream of new ideas incorporating

different textures, colours and finishing techniques. The results are a range of

innovative, unusual and exciting products that cross the design spectrum

from classical to contemporary and offer a choice for all interior styles.

We have developed our manufacturing processes over many years and each

item is hand made and finished using traditional hand finishing techniques.

This allows us to re-create the illusion of almost any finish on any surface

such as hand stitched leather or the majestic antler.

As a true manufacturer we are able to offer a bespoke service. We can make

customised products: whether it be one of our catalogue products in a

different finish or bringing to life your special project from your own

drawings or concepts.

Special Colours

We are able to offer many of these fittings in most styles of finish. If you see

an item but require a different finish please give us a ring to see if we can

accommodate your requirements. When ordering a special colour we will

need a BS4800 RAL number or a Dulux reference number; we regret we

cannot colour match swatches other than by these reference numbers.

Bespoke Products

The production team can make almost anything you may require: from

extending arms on existing products to total custom designs. Amongst

prestigious projects David Hunt Lighting have been involved in are:

Gleneagles Hotel, Great Shanghai International Club in China, the Hoover

Building, Beverly Minster and many more. Contact us and we will be happy to

discuss any ideas you may have.

F Marked – The mounting surface of fitting will not exceed 90 deg C. Suitable for mounting on flammable surfaces.

FX Marked - The mounting surface of fitting can exceed 90 deg C. Not suitable for mounting on flammable surfaces.

to the ceiling. Full instructions are included with each product. We recommend that the conversion is carried out

by a qualified electrician upon installation.

Other commonly used lighting symbols and what they mean

0.3M Symbol - Minimum distance from illuminated surface 0.3m.Distance depends on wattage and reflector. Usually only used for products with reflectors built in or MR16, GU10.Ensure light source is not too close to surfaces causing them to overheat.

Replace broken protective glass (either round or rectangular). Some halogen and metal halide lamps require a protective shield to offer protection should the lamp shatter.The shield must be replaced if broken to maintain security.

Self Shield Lamp. Warns that the use of glass fronted MR16, GU10 or low pressure capsule lamps must be used.

DimmersMost fittings using incandescent lamps can be dimmed. Generally fluorescent lamps cannot be dimmed unless

specialist control gear is fitted.

All dimmers will produce some buzzing and noise at either the dimmer or the light fitting. This is quite normal and

does not indicate a fault.

Dedicated Low Energy: These fittings contain control gear which is designed to operate ‘pin based’ fluorescentlamps. These lamps have unique lampholder types which are only suitable for the type of lamp detailed in the

specification. They come in several different shapes dependant on the lamp holder.

They consume around 20% of the energy used by a conventional incandescent lamp and have a life of

between 10 & 15 times longer (dependant on the specific lamp).

Retro Fit Low Energy (Self ballasted lamps): This type of lamp is available to suit many of the commonlampholder types (BC, ES, SES, GU10) and is suitable for use in many fittings. It is a fluorescent lamp, similar in

operation and energy saving to the dedicated low energy lamps but with the control gear housed within the

lamp itself. This allows them to be fitted in fittings designed for use with conventional filament lamps. They are

available in a variety of shapes and sizes of varying wattages.

The type of light will vary dependant on the ‘colour temperature’ of the lamp – a lamp marked 827 (or 2700K)

will produce a warm light, similar in appearance to a conventional GLS whilst an 835 (3500K) will produce a

cooler light which may be more suitable for some contemporary fittings. Lamps with a colour temperature

above 5000K are referred to as ‘Daylight’ and give excellent colour rendering suitable for task lighting.

Energy Saving Halogen: Whilst the energy saving is not as great as with the fluorescent lamps, the appearanceof the lamp is very similar to those it is designed to replace. Typically the Osram “Halogen Classic” range will

consume around 30% less power to produce the same amount of light. A 28W candle of this lamp type gives the

same light output as a conventional 40W candle lamp and lasts around twice as long. These are strongly suitedto fittings where the lamp is exposed and is very effective for fittings with crystal. These lamps are instant startand suitable for dimming and can be applied as a direct replacement for a comparable lamp type for anyproduct. They are available in a wide range of types including, GLS, Candle, G9, R7s, Gy6.35 (low voltage lamp).Philips Lighting also offer a comparable solution with their Master Classic Halogen Eco Boost range.

LED Lamps: Offer the very latest in energy saving technology providing long life, low heat and exceptionally lowrunning costs. There are an increasing number of different types of LED lamps available including reflector lamps

(e.g. GU10 replacement) and replacements for conventional GLS, golfball and candle type lamps. Whilst the

initial purchase cost seems quite high (for good quality LED lamps) the energy savings over the products lifetime

along with its very long life offers a substantial benefit.
