Released in 16th September 2005, directed by Andrew Niccol. The main purpose o this

mo!ie is to tell about the arm dealers, who were are in the business o the dar" world o the#lobal weapons smu##lin# durin# the period o the cold war. $t was a #ood story line up

based on the true story. $t%s an interestin# concept or a mo!ie, a person as an ille#al arms

dealer.

$t ollows the story o &uri 'rlo! (Nicolas )a#e*, a poor +"rainian immi#rant, who one day

decides to sell #uns or a li!in#. &uri 'rlo! (Nicolas )a#e*, ma"in# his way up throu#h the

arm dealer industry, and become successul enou#h to supply weapons to the worlds armies.

&uri and his brother called -italy (ared /eto* are partners in crime in the mo!ie. e has the

clients come rom all o!er. There is a moment in the ilm when &uri #ets some bad news as

eace tal"s ha!e started in a particularly promisin# mar"et. e made his ocus to the osnian

arena. 3hen they say theyre ha!in# a war. e also inds two #ood customers in Arica. The

/iberian dictator aptiste Senior and his son aptiste unior. Senior is capable o shootin#

people dead. At the end o the 40s, he reuse to wor" with -italy who became a cocaine

addict. &uri becomes a millionaire and step towards his new lie. &uri was married to the

amous model o that time A!a and had a son called Ni"ola. &uri met his uncle eneral 'rlo!

who allows &uri to #et to the So!iet armys weapons and &uri will trade bac" to Arican

dictators who become, in the 0s, his ortunate clients. ut, soon, thin#s #o in a bad way

eneral 'rlo! dies in the e7plosion o his car, "illed by Simeon 3eis8, &uris participant, and

ac" -alentine, an $nterpol police oicer, decides to do e!erythin# so that he can arrest &uri.

ac" !alentine !isits A!a, and discloses the real nature o her husbands acti!ities to her. &uri

who lo!es his amily abo!e all, pro!ides up arms dealin# then but 6 months later, he is

communicated by Andr9 aptiste, an old customer and also ruler o /iberia, who desperately

needs weapons. &uri, attended by his brother -italy lies to Arica but the contract #oes

wron#. -italy is "illed and in New &or" )ity, &uri is arrested by ac" -alentine and in the end

he understand that &uri is a necessary wic"ed or the concern o his nation.

Nicolas ca#e (&uri 'rlo!* has played a !ital role in this mo!ie who wants to better his li!in#

conditions. Nicholas ca#e was as #ood in this mo!ie as any other with his attitude that ma"es

his character so stron#. $t #a!e a #reat detail about what he did in a lon# way but short

eelin#. Althou#h )a#es doin# is ille#al, he perorms the part so well that you can understand



his situation and sympathi8e or him. Another most important character was his brother

!itally who is always with &uri. &uri was addicted to cocaine but still care about his brother.

And the detecti!e :ac" !alentine, !ery loyal to his nation and wants to eliminate ille#al

business by catchin# the ille#al arm dealer.

Theme o the mo!ie is that the arm dealers are spread all o!er the world and how ille#ally

they are inluencin# in the society by introducin# and #i!in# weapons to others, and creatin#

a mean o war and ma"in# others lie in threat. The #reatest thin# $ ha!e learned about /ord

o war. $t doesnt ta"e too serious. $t is !ery political and deep inside pretty moralistic, but it

always has a more or less cynical point o !iew. And that is to my mind the only way to do a

ilm about a theme li"e arms trade.

The mo!ie was surprisin#ly !ery #ood. 'ne o the best mo!ie $ ha!e seen in a lon# time. The

script, the cast, cinemato#raphy was e7cellent. The messa#e was clear that arm dealin# is an

ille#al proession and it can cause yours and others lie.
