Daniel Bryant Daniel is on staff at Baltimore Center Stage as Artistic Producer/Director of Community Programs. He’s spent the past two years producing and directing BCS Mobile Unit productions of Endgame, Twelfth Night, and Antigone as part of BCS’s Access for All initiative. The Mobile Unit is a community engagement program that challenges economic, geographic, and cultural boundaries which often hinder access to quality art. By presenting streamlined versions of both classical and contemporary plays, without sets or lights, the Mobile Unit tours the Baltimore City area for three weeks and can be performed in non-traditional theater spaces like community centers, gyms, cafeterias, activity rooms, and even living rooms. As a result, the BCS Mobile Unit is able to deliver high-quality portable productions to Baltimore’s most diverse audiences, including paid patrons as well as citizens in senior centers, homeless shelters, secured facilities, and overlooked schools. Before moving to Baltimore, Daniel lived and worked in Chicago, where he’s had extensive experience as an actor, director, and producer of theater. He’s an ensemble member of Congo Square Theatre Company in Chicago where he’s served multiple roles within the organization as Associate Artistic Director for three years followed by three years as Artistic Director. Some of his producing credits include several productions of the The Nativity at the Goodman Theatre, The Colored Museum by George C. Wolfe, and Eisa Davis’ Bulrusher as well as numerous staged readings for Congo Square’s Summer Reading Series, Legacy Festival, and Festival on the Square. A few additional highlights in Daniel’s directing credits include Pearl Cleage’s What I Learned in Paris, Brothers of The Dust (BTAA for Best Play) of which he also helped develop at Congo Square, The Fall of Heaven by world renowned mystery novelist Walter Mosley, and August Wilson’s King Headley II (BTAA for Best Ensemble, Best Director). Daniel is an associate artist at Chicago Dramatists where he has directed several times for their Saturday Series and their festival/showcase of new work. He also directed for the Young Playwrights festival at Pegasus Players as well as the American Theatre Company.
