! Daniel 4 is that of a literal dream that predicted a literal event.
! The 7 years of Nebuchadnezzar (605-562 BC) reduced to a beast
likely occurred after the destruction of Jerusalem and a second
deportation of Jews in 582BC. ! https://www.britannica.com/biography/Nebuchadnezzar-II

{Lt114-1903.12} “I am instructed to call the attention of our people to
the second dream given to Nebuchadnezzar and to the
experience that came to him as the result of his failure to heed the
warning. Nebuchadnezzar was troubled by the dream; and unable
to obtain from his wise men an interpretation of it, he called in
Daniel and told him the dream.”
5 5/25/20
{8T 126.3} “Study Nebuchadnezzar’s dream as recorded in the fourth
chapter of Daniel.”
{8T 127.2} “Let men become lifted up in pride, and the Lord will not
sustain them and keep them from falling. Let a church become
proud and boastful, not depending on God, not exalting His
power, and that church will surely be left by the Lord, to be
brought down to the ground. Let a people glory in wealth,
intellect, knowledge, or in anything but Christ, and they will soon
be brought to confusion.”

Dan 4:1-2 “1Nebuchadnezzar the king, unto all people,
nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth;
Peace be multiplied unto you. 2I thought it good to
shew the signs and wonders that the high God hath
wrought toward me. ”
! The author of Daniel 4 is King Nebuchadnezzar.
! Its content applies to all people, in all eras. Dan 3:4
! “High God” Dan 3:26

Dan 4:3 “How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.”
Dan 2:35 “…the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.”
Dan 2:44 “And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.”
Dan 7:14 “And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.”
8 5/25/20
Dan 4:3 “How great are his signs! and how mighty are
his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and his dominion is from generation to generation.”
Dan 4:34 “…I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion
is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to
generation”
Dan 6:26-27 “I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men
tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and
stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his
dominion shall be even unto the end. He delivereth and rescueth, and he
worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered
Daniel from the power of the lions.”
9 5/25/20
Dan 4:4-6 “4I Nebuchadnezzar was at rest in mine
house, and flourishing in my palace: 5I saw a dream
which made me afraid, and the thoughts upon my
bed and the visions of my head troubled me. 6Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise
men of Babylon before me, that they might make
known unto me the interpretation of the dream.” ! Earthly wisdom versus wisdom from God. Daniel 2:1-2, 28-29
10 5/25/20
{PK 515.1-2} “His passion as a builder, and his signal success in
making Babylon one of the wonders of the world, ministered to
his pride, until he was in grave danger of spoiling his record as a
wise ruler whom God could continue to use as an instrument for
the carrying out of the divine purpose.
In mercy God gave the king another dream, to warn him of
his peril and of the snare that had been laid for his ruin.”
11 5/25/20
{Ms15-1896.11} “The dream given him was very explicit, but the
magicians, the astrologers, the soothsayers, and the Chaldeans
could not make known to the king his dream or tell the
interpretation thereof. Those who do not love and fear God
cannot understand the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven. They
cannot approach unto the throne of Him who dwelleth in light
unapproachable; and the things of God are to them mysteries of
mysteries. But the king bears testimony to the fact that the
servants of God understand the things of God. Daniel told the
dream and the interpretation thereof before the king.”
12 5/25/20
Dan 4:7 “Then came in the magicians, the astrologers,
the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers: and I told the
dream before them; but they did not make known
unto me the interpretation thereof.” Exo 7:11 “Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the
magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.”
Dan 2:10 “The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a
man upon the earth that can shew the king's matter: therefore there is no king,
lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or
Chaldean.”
13 5/25/20
Dan 4:8 “But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods: and before him I told the dream, saying,” Dan 4:18 “…for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee.”
Dan 5:11 “There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods…”
Dan 5:14 “I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee.”
Isa 63:11 “Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?”
14 5/25/20
Dan 4:9-10 “9O Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in thee, and no secret troubleth thee, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and the interpretation thereof. 10Thus were the visions of mine head in my bed; I saw, and behold a tree in the midst of the earth, and the height thereof was great.” Dan 4:48 “…the king made Daniel…chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.”
Dan 5:11 “… king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;”
15 5/25/20
{PK 516.4} “Once more in this idolatrous nation, testimony was to be
borne to the fact that only those who love and fear God can
understand the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven. The king
in his perplexity sent for his servant Daniel, a man esteemed for
his integrity and constancy and for his unrivaled wisdom.”
16 5/25/20
Dan 4:11 “The tree grew, and was strong, and the height
thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to
the end of all the earth:” Eze 31:3 “Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches, and
with a shadowing shroud, and of an high stature; and his top was among the
thick boughs.”
17 5/25/20
Dan 4:12 “The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit
thereof much, and in it was meat for all: the beasts of
the field had shadow under it, and the fowls of the
heaven dwelt in the boughs thereof, and all flesh was
fed of it.” Jer 27:6 “And now have I given all these lands into the hand of
Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field
have I given him also to serve him.”
Dan 2:38 “And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field
and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee
ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.”
18 5/25/20
{Ed 175.3} “An illustration of this truth is found in the history of
ancient Babylon. To Nebuchadnezzar the king the true object
of national government was represented under the figure of a
great tree, …This representation shows the character of a
government that fulfills God’s purpose—a government that
protects and upbuilds the nation.”
{Ed 177.1} “While the nations rejected God’s principles, and in this
rejection wrought their own ruin, it was still manifest that the
divine, overruling purpose was working through all their
movements.”
19 5/25/20
{Ed 175.4} “God exalted Babylon that it might fulfill this purpose.
Prosperity attended the nation until it reached a height of wealth
and power that has never since been equaled—fitly represented
in the Scriptures by the inspired symbol, a “head of gold.” Daniel
2:38.”
20 5/25/20
{Ms15-1896.38} “The end [purpose] of all government was beautifully set forth by the Lord in the symbol of a tree that gave shelter to the beasts of the field and to the birds of the air. Nebuchadnezzar was at one time a superior ruler, a man more compassionate toward his subjects than was the ruler of any other heathen nation, and his rule was symbolized by a lofty tree. But the man who thinks it is his prerogative to command his fellow men, and says, You shall, and, You shall not, is entirely out of his place. He takes upon him that which was never given him, and lords it over God’s purchased possession. Every man is accountable to God for his actions. The man in a position of trust who is guided by the Spirit of God will always protect the weak, relieve the needy, and look after the widow and the fatherless.”
21 5/25/20
Dan 4:13-14 “13I saw in the visions of my head upon my
bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came
down from heaven; 14He cried aloud, and said thus,
Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake
off his leaves, and scatter his fruit: let the beasts get
away from under it, and the fowls from his
branches:” ! Watcher, holy one: Watchers can be angels, however only God is holy and
only God can issue a command to “Hew down the tree”
22 5/25/20
{RH September 8, 1896, par. 7} “Today there is a Watchman taking
cognizance of the children of men, and in a special sense of those
who are to represent God by receiving his sacred truth into the
heart and revealing it to the world. That Watcher is guarding the
interests of all. Every individual is before him. There is not a
thought of the heart that is unnoted. Nothing can be hidden
from him. His ear hears the secret whisperings, and every secret
thing is to be brought into judgment. All need to learn that the
heavenly Watcher is acquainted with the children of men.”
23 5/25/20
Dan 4:15 “Nevertheless leave the stump of his roots in
the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the
tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the
dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts
in the grass of the earth:” (see Dan 4:23)
Dan 7:17 “…four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.”
! Stump and roots in the earth: Correlates to the Daniel 2 image. The “roots”
of the nations are in the “clay”/ “earth” representing religion, infusing
religions with the influence of Rome and Greece. (See Dan 2:41-43; 4:23,26)
24 5/25/20
Dan 4:16 “Let his heart be changed from man's, and let
a beast's heart be given unto him; and let seven times
pass over him.” (See Dan 4:23, 25, 32) ! “ʻiddân, id-dawn'; (Aramaic) from a root corresponding to that of H5708; a
set time; technically, a year:—time.” https://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/Lexicon/Lexicon.cfm?strongs=H5732&t=KJV
! H5708 is used 13 times, 4 occur in Daniel 4 prefaced by “seven.”
In the context of prophetic language, this “time” is a “day for a year.”
Dan 7:12 “As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken
away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time (H5732).”
Dan 7:25 “…they shall be given into his hand until a time (H5732) and times
(H5732) and the dividing of time (H5732). (Note Daniel 12:7)
25 5/25/20
Dan 4:17 “This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.” (Dan 4:25)
Psa 9:16 “The LORD is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.”
Dan 2:21 “…he removeth kings, and setteth up kings…”
Dan 5:21 “…the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.”
26 5/25/20
{RH March 28, 1907, par. 9-10} “The Lord God omnipotent reigneth. All
kings, all nations, are his, under his rule and government. His
resources are infinite. The wise man declares, “The king’s heart is
in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it
whithersoever he will.”
Those upon whose actions hang the destinies of nations, are
watched over with a vigilance that knows no relaxation by him
who “giveth salvation unto kings,” to whom belong “the shields
of the earth.”
27 5/25/20
Dan 4:18 “This dream I king Nebuchadnezzar have
seen. Now thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the
interpretation thereof, forasmuch as all the wise men
of my kingdom are not able to make known unto me
the interpretation: but thou art able; for the spirit of
the holy gods is in thee.”
Gen 41:8, 15 Pharaoh’s dream
Dan 5:8, 15 Belshazzar’s feast
Dan 4:8 “the spirit of the holy gods”
28 5/25/20
Dan 4:19 “Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar,
was astonied for one hour, and his thoughts troubled
him. The king spake, and said, Belteshazzar, let not
the dream, or the interpretation thereof, trouble
thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the
dream be to them that hate thee, and the
interpretation thereof to thine enemies.”
Jer 29:7 “And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be
carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof
shall ye have peace.”
29 5/25/20
Dan 4:20-21 “20The tree that thou sawest, which grew,
and was strong, whose height reached unto the
heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth; 21Whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much,
and in it was meat for all; under which the beasts of
the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls
of the heaven had their habitation:”
30 5/25/20
Dan 4:22 “It is thou, O king, that art grown and become
strong: for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto
heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth.”
Jer 27:6-8; Dan 2:37-38 God gave Nebuchadnezzar the earth.
31 5/25/20
Dan 4:23 “And whereas the king saw a watcher and an
holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew
the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of
the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of
iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and
let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his
portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times
pass over him;” (See Dan 4:15-16, 25-26, 32; 5:21)
32 5/25/20
{Ms233-1902.14} “The prophet Daniel, acting in behalf of the Most
High, instructed the man who sent for him to interpret his dreams.
He interpreted the vision in regard to the great tree which he had
seen hewn down. Daniel 4:23. He made the interpretation,
bearing direct reference to the ruling of the monarch himself. The
Lord’s messenger must not in any case depart from the plain
“Thus saith the Lord.” Before the Lord strikes, He warns and
impresses their understanding.”
33 5/25/20
Dan 4:24-25 “24This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king: 25That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.” (Dan 4:16, 23, 32)
Psa 106:20 “Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.”
34 5/25/20
Dan 4:26 “And whereas they commanded to leave the
stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom shall be sure
unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the
heavens do rule.” (Dan 4:15-16, 23, 36)
Mat 21:25 “The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And
they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will
say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?”
Luk 15:18 “I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I
have sinned against heaven, and before thee,”
35 5/25/20
Dan 4:27 “Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be
acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by
righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy
to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy
tranquillity.”
1Pe 4:8 “And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for
charity shall cover the multitude of sins.”
Psa 41:1 “Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him
in time of trouble.”
36 5/25/20
{Lt114-1903.15} “…his heart was not changed, and the heart that is not wholly transformed by the grace of God soon loses the impression made by the Holy Spirit. Nebuchadnezzar felt that he was rooted in the hearts of his subjects, and his prosperity tempted him to do unjust things. His rule, which in the past had to a great extent been just and merciful, now became harsh and oppressive. The reason that God had given him was used for self-glorification.”
{Lt34-1900.23} “Thus plainly was the truth spoken to the self-exalted king. And in the providence of God we shall in the future have opportunity to warn those who stand in the high places of the earth.”
37 5/25/20
{Lt35-1896.22} “Make it your lifework to reform. Make no delay.
Satan has his net all ready to close about you. Flee to Christ for
refuge. I want you to be converted, to be transformed. That
Watcher who gave the denunciation against the king of Babylon,
is waiting to see if he will be compelled to say of you, ‘Hew
down the tree, cut off its branches, shake off his leaves, and
scatter his fruit.’”
38 5/25/20
Dan 4:28-30 “28All this came upon the king
Nebuchadnezzar. 29At the end of twelve months he
walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon. 30The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon,
that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the
might of my power, and for the honour of my
majesty?”
Dan 5:20 “But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he
was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:”
39 5/25/20
{PK 519.2} “For months the judgment of God lingered. But instead
of being led to repentance by this forbearance, the king indulged
his pride until he lost confidence in the interpretation of the
dream, and jested at his former fears.”
40 5/25/20
{Ms29-1895.23} “From the history of characters described in the Word
of God, we learn that prosperity is dangerous to spiritual life. It
is not those who have lost their property that are most likely to
forget God; it is those who have a measure of prosperity or who
have been successful in their plans. The cup that is most
difficult to carry, is not the one that is empty, but the one that
is full to the brim. This must be balanced with nice precision.”
41 5/25/20
Dan 4:31 “While the word was in the king's mouth,
there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king
Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is
departed from thee.”
Luk 12:20 “But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be
required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?”
42 5/25/20
{Lt71-1894.31} “Here God reveals Himself as Lord over all His creatures and all His works; that which came to pass in the case of King Nebuchadnezzar, who pursued his own course irrespective of warnings and reproofs, will surely be fulfilled in the case of those who have had great light, but who, through an unholy confederacy, sustain and influence one another to do the very things God has warned them not to do. He will uproot them, and bring to confusion their ambitious projects. If they repent, and humble their hearts before God, there is pardon. If they walk in humility before God, there is peace in the forgiveness and approval of God. If they will make God their trust, and keep the way of the Lord to do justice and judgment, they will be accepted of God, and will have another trial and proving. But the Lord of hosts will not be trifled with.”
43 5/25/20
Dan 4:32 “And they shall drive thee from men, and thy
dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they
shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times
shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most
High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to
whomsoever he will.” (See Dan 4:16, 23, 25)
44 5/25/20
Dan 4:33 “The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon
Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and
did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the
dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles'
feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.”
45 5/25/20
{Lt8-1886.10} “The reason which God had given him was taken away;
his judgment which he thought so perfect, the wisdom which he
prided himself as possessing were removed. The jewel of the
mind, which elevates man above the beasts as the head of the
body, he no longer retained.”
46 5/25/20
{Lt19a-1897.1} “We are living in the last days of this earth’s history,
and we may be surprised at nothing in the line of apostasies
and denials of the truth. Unbelief has now come to be a fine
art, which men work at to the destruction of their souls. There is
constant danger of there being shams in pulpit preachers,
whose lives contradict the words they speak; but the voice of
warning and of admonition will be heard as long as time shall
last; and those who are guilty of transactions that should never be
entered into, when reproved or counseled through the Lord’s
appointed agencies, will resist the message and refuse to be
corrected. Cont.
47 5/25/20
{Lt19a-1897.1} “They will go on as did Pharaoh, and Nebuchadnezzar,
until the Lord takes away their reason, and their hearts become
unimpressible. The Lord’s word will come to them; but if they
choose not to hear it, the Lord will make them responsible for
their own ruin.”
48 5/25/20
Dan 4:34 “And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar
lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine
understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the
most High, and I praised and honoured him that
liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting
dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to
generation:”
Dan 2:44; 6:26; 7:14
Luk 1:33 “And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his
kingdom there shall be no end.”
49 5/25/20
Dan 4:35 “And all the inhabitants of the earth are
reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his
will in the army of heaven, and among the
inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand,
or say unto him, What doest thou?”
Isa 40:15 “Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the
small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.”
Isa 40:17 “All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him
less than nothing, and vanity.”
Psa 135:6 “Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth,
in the seas, and all deep places.”
50 5/25/20
{PK 521.3} “God’s purpose that the greatest kingdom in the world
should show forth His praise was now fulfilled. This public
proclamation, in which Nebuchadnezzar acknowledged the mercy
and goodness and authority of God, was the last act of his life
recorded in sacred history.”
51 5/25/20
{Ms233-1902.18} “King Nebuchadnezzar is changed—he is a changed
man. The closing epistle addressed by the king to his subjects
reveals the spirit that pleases God. This punishment was not in
vain. His words evidence that a true conversion has taken place.
There is not that pomp, that lifting up the soul unto vanity, but a
transformation of his character, a true and actual conversion
to God.”
52 5/25/20
Dan 4:36 “At the same time my reason returned unto
me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour
and brightness returned unto me; and my
counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was
established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty
was added unto me.” (see Dan 4:26)
Pro 22:4 “By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and
life.”
Mat 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all
these things shall be added unto you.”
53 5/25/20
Dan 4:37 “Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and
honour the King of heaven, all whose works are
truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in
pride he is able to abase.”
Deu 32:4 “He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment:
a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.”
Psa 33:4 “For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in
truth.”
Rev 15:3b “…Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just
and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.”
Rev 16:7 “…Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.”
54 5/25/20
{Lt114-1903.21} “The lesson that the Lord would have all humanity
learn from the experience of the king of Babylon is that all who
walk in pride He is able to abase. By stern discipline
Nebuchadnezzar had to learn the lesson that God, not man, is
Ruler, that His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. So men today
must learn that God is supreme. When men gain success in the
work of the Lord, it is because God has given them this success,
not for their own glory, but for God’s glory. He who seeks to
steal a ray of light from the glory of the Lord will find that he
will be punished for his presumption.”

{TM 436.1} “Belshazzar, awed by this representation of God’s power, showing that they had a witness, though they knew it not, had had great opportunities of knowing the works of the living God, and His power, and of doing His will. He had been privileged with much light. His grandfather, Nebuchadnezzar, had been warned of his danger in forgetting God and glorifying himself. Belshazzar had a knowledge of his banishment from the society of men, and his association with the beasts of the field; and these facts, which ought to have been a lesson to him, he disregarded, as if they had never occurred; and he went on repeating the sins of his grandfather. He dared to commit the crimes which brought God’s judgments upon Nebuchadnezzar. He was condemned, not alone that he himself was doing wickedly, but that he had not availed himself of opportunities and capabilities, if cultivated, of being right.”

{Lt114-1903.23} “Let a people boast themselves in their own
wisdom, let them exalt self and indulge pride, and the result will
surely follow. As surely as the sun shines by day, so surely does
pride go before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. Let
a church become proud and boastful, and that church will be laid
low. Let those in charge of any institution become
presumptuous, taking to themselves the credit for the success
that has come to them in certain lines, let them glory in their
wisdom and their efficiency, and they will certainly be
brought to humiliation.”

{RH January 11, 1906, par. 10} “In Daniel’s life, the desire to glorify God
was the most powerful of all motives. He realized that when
standing in the presence of men of influence, a failure to
acknowledge God as the source of his wisdom would have made
him an unfaithful steward. And his constant recognition of the
God of heaven before kings, princes, and statesmen, detracted not
one iota from his influence. King Nebuchadnezzar, before
whom Daniel so often honored the name of God, was finally
thoroughly converted, and learned to ‘praise and extol and
honor the King of heaven.’”

{YI December 13, 1904, par. 5} “Thus the king upon the Babylonian throne
became a witness for God, giving his testimony, warm and
eloquent, from a grateful heart that was partaking of the mercy
and grace, the righteousness and peace, of the divine nature.
God’s design that the greatest kingdom of the world should show
forth his praise, was now fulfilled.”
{Ms29-1895.29} “Thus the king upon the Babylonian throne became a
witness for God. He presents himself as a living epistle…”
