PPine Hill Plantation was recently named “2013 Orvis Wingshooting Lodge of the Year” and “Best of the Sporting South” for bobwhite quail hunting by Garden & Gun magazine in their December 2012/January 2013 issue.

“Everything we do is done with excel-lence for the enjoyment and experience of our guests,” said Pine Hill Plantation’s owner, Doug Coe. “Their positive rankings and reviews earned us this award. Without our guests we are nothing.”

Imagine riding on a mule-drawn wagon or on horseback watching top-quality point-ing dogs work the longleaf pine timber of southern Georgia, waiting for their sud-den stop when they wind a covey of wild bobwhites.

For most quail hunters, it is merely a dream. But that dream becomes reality at Pine Hill Plantation, South Georgia’s fi nest quail hunting destination.

If quail hunting is anything, it is driven by tradition. Quail hunting from horseback is as deeply embedded in the Southern plantation psyche as grits and cornbread, and the mule-drawn wagon is an iconic symbol of the grand plantation quail hunt-ing social experience.

For quail hunters, the pursuit of a revered little bird permeates every aspect of the lifestyle of those who pursue it. Pine Hill Plantation preserves that lifestyle with no compromise.

“It’s vintage Georgia quail hunting,” Coe said. “We run it a lot like a private plantation.”

From private plantation lodges provid-ing the ultimate in luxury and privacy to a private house staff, groups will experience authentic South Georgia quail hunting at its best.

“Groups of four or more have their own private lodge,” Coe said, “and are served by the same house staff and huntmaster for the duration of their stay.”

All meals are served in your private dining room where you experience the ex-quisite country gourmet food served by the talented staff.

“It’s high-touch personal service — you’ll know the names of the staff and they’ll

know yours — it’s very much like a private plantation,” Coe said.

And then there are the birds — wild birds, no less.

“We have some of the best habitat in Georgia, with 6,000 acres of longleaf pine timber with wiregrass understory,” Coe said. “It’s the same native habitat that the quail had before the white man got here and began clearing timber for farming.

“We have great wild quail populations and a lot of lively action.”

Quail hunting parties normally include four shooters per wagon-hunt party to provide personal attention and to gear the bird hunt to your desires. Three experi-enced guides (a huntmaster, a dog handler and wagon driver) accompany your party and work the proven pointers, setters and retrievers to help you fi nd the quail. A dog kennel of more than 50 pointers and set-ters with exceptional bloodlines will earn your respect as they run their courses. The labs off the wagon will retrieve the quail from where you drop them and fl ush coveys in any thick cover.

The authentic hunts, private luxury lodg-ing, excellent food and high-touch personal service have not gone unnoticed.

One of only fi ve wingshooting venues in North America to be inducted in the Be-retta Trident Program, placing it in the top 3 percent of all wingshooting venues, Pine Hill Plantation also is the only Orvis-en-dorsed wingshooting facility that provides guided bobwhite quail hunting exclusively from mule-drawn wagon and horseback.

This hidden treasure is the perfect place to build lasting customer relations or enjoy time with family and friends in a hunting experience like it has been done on private plantations for more than 150 years.

Rugged, reliable and accurate

Ruger American Rifle

The Ruger American Rifle is a 100-percent American made rifl e with innovative fea-tures that deliver performance that rivals far more expensive fi rearms. Offered in short- and long-action calibers, the Ruger American Rifl e sets a new stan-dard among value-priced, bolt-action rifl es and combines the rugged reliability of Ruger’s past with award-winning ingenuity.

The Ruger American Rifl e features the Ruger Marksman Adjustable trigger that offers a crisp release with a pull weight that is user-adjustable be-tween 3 and 5 pounds. Ruger’s patent-pending Power Bedding system utilizes stainless-steel bedding blocks insert-molded into the stock to positively lo-cate the receiver and free-fl oat the barrel. The barrel’s rifl ing is cold hammer forged to exacting tolerances, providing sub-MOA accuracy and an easy to clean mirror-smooth fi nish.

The Ruger American Rifl e’s three-lug, 70-degree bolt uti-lizes a full diameter bolt body

and dual cocking cams for smooth, easy cycling. The reli-able rotary magazine fi ts fl ush with the stock and offers the smooth feed of Ruger rotary magazines. The receiver is drilled and tapped for mount-ing the included scope bases.

The easily accessible tang safety, which can be placed “on safe” while the bolt is cycled, is complemented by the passive, trigger-mounted safety, which positively locks the trigger.

The full-size rifl e weighs approximately 6.25 pounds, features 22-inch barrels and 13.73-inch length of pull and is currently available in .30-06 Sprg., .270 Win., .308 Win., .22-250 Rem., 7mm-08 Rem., .243 Win. and .223 Rem. The 6-pound 18-inch barrel compact Ruger American Rifl e offers a 12.5-inch length of pull and is chambered in .308 Win., .22-250 Rem., 7mm-08 Rem., .243 Win. and .223 Rem.

Small bore shooters can now enjoy many of the same

innovative features in the new Ruger American Rimfi re bolt-action rifl es in either .22 LR, .22 Mag-num or .17 HMR. With many of the standard Ruger American Rifl e features, this new line also com-bines several design innovations from the popular 10/22 rimfi re rifl e. This combination, along with the rifl e’s adaptability, will appeal to all bolt-action enthusiasts – young or old, novice or experienced. The new line consists of full-sized (22-inch barrel/13.75-inch length of pull) and compact (18-inch/12.5-inch length of pull) models.

Each Ruger American Rimfi re model includes two interchangeable stock modules that provide comb height options for scope or iron sight use. Standard models come with long length of pull modules, while compact models come with

short length of pull modules. By simply removing the rear sling swivel stud, stock modules can be changed in seconds. All four stock modules are completely inter-changeable across all models.

Models chambered in .22 LR feature the detachable, fl ush-mount-ed 10/22 BX-1 10-round rotary magazine and accept all 10/22 magazines, including the BX-25 and BX-25x2. Models chambered in .22 Magnum and .17 HMR use the detachable, fl ush-mounted JMX-1 9-round rotary magazine. The 10/22-style extended magazine release provides smooth, no-fuss magazine removal. The 60-degree bolt provides ample scope clear-ance, while an easy-to-use, receiver-mounted bolt release allows the bolt to be readily removed without requiring a pull of the trigger, a

unique safety feature among rimfi re, bolt-action rifl es.

Additional features include a satin blued, target-crowned, hammer-forged barrel that results in ultra-precise rifl ing for exceptional accuracy, longevity and easy clean-ing, plus a Williams fi ber optic front sight and 10/22-style adjustable, “V” slot, folding-leaf rear sight. A 3/8-inch rimfi re scope base is machined into the receiver, and is drilled and tapped for Weaver #12 bases (not included).

The Ruger American Rifl e, whether in rimfi re or centerfi re, is the whole package – rugged, reli-able, and incredibly accurate.

Welcome to Texas’ biggest showcase of hunting, sporting and outdoor lifestyles!

Nearly nine football fields’ worth of exhibits, opportunities for outfi tted hunts and other outdoor adventures, gear, fi rearms, art, collectibles, entertainment, taxidermy displays, seminars, silent auctions and many other attrac-tions are here for your enjoyment.

The best part is, by attending the Dallas Safari Club’s annual convention and expo, you’re supporting conservation, education and hunter advocacy efforts worldwide.

Last year, this event drew some 41,000 people and generated more than $1 million for DSC grants supporting wildlife habitat, research, law enforcement, youth programs and legislative ini-tiatives. We’re expecting even bigger crowds and

bigger fundraising results this year! One of our live-auction items is making news

around the globe. Scientists and offi cials with the government of Namibia asked DSC to sell a rare hunting permit for a black rhino. It’s a hunt that will bring biological as well as fi nancial benefi ts to rhino populations. The hunt will be for an aggressive, old, post-breeding bull known to charge and kill younger breeding bulls, as well as cows and even calves. Hunting this animal will increase herd survival — while generating at least $250,000, perhaps up to $1 million, for conservation. All proceeds will be returned to Namibia for crucial rhino efforts such as anti-poaching and habitat initiatives.

Watch for updates on this and other DSC fund-raising and granting totals in coming weeks.

Other highlights during our convention and expo’s four-day run include:

• For the fi rst time ever, Weatherby Founda-tion International will present its prestigious Weatherby Award in conjunction with the DSC event.

• Presentations of the esteemed Conklin Award, Capstick Award and others.

• Exhibits from top conservation organizations, outfi tter associations and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

• Daily seminars by authorities in hunting, conservation, wildlife management and more.

• American Custom Gunmakers Guild exhibits, demonstrations and member events.

• Special attractions in a section of the show called “Wingshooter’s World” with Quail Coalition.

• Unique taxidermy exhibits throughout the expo hall.

• A public-welcome, volunteer-driven, family-friendly atmosphere — all for a great cause.

Sponsors for the 2014 DSC convention and expo include Midway USA, Blaser USA, Inc., Boyt Harness Company, Capital Farm Credit, Carl Zeiss Sports Optics, LLC, EuroOptic, Ltd., Hornady Manufacturing, Ruger Firearms, Rungwa Game Safaris, Shikar Safaris, Sovereign Bank, Sports Afi eld, The Hunting Consortium, The Wildlife Gallery, Tracking Point, Trijicon, Inc. and Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A.

A big, heartfelt thank you to all of our spon-sors, exhibitors, volunteers and especially you — our devoted attendees — for being part of this important annual event!

RRanchers and hunters spend countless hours and effort managing their land for wildlife. When it comes to their lakes, though, they often let nature take its course, with hopes of fi shing and water quality improvement.

At Lochow Ranch Pond and Lake Management, a team of fi sheries biologists awaits to change all of that — and get your lake teeming with trophy bass.

“A managed lake is quite similar

to a high-fenced ranch,” explained Operations Manager John Jones. “Of-ten, people don’t dedicate the same time and effort they do for their land or their deer, mainly because they can’t see what’s under the water.”

Lochow Ranch can effectively “see” what is below the surface, and will help landowners manage their water, vegetation, and especially their bass.

“We manage lakes for some well-

known, high-profi le deer guys,” Jones said. They tell me they get as much or more joy in growing the big bass as they do growing their biggest deer.”

Whether it is new lake construc-tion, management, bathometric mapping, fi sh stocking, vegetation control, or aeration systems, Lochow is here to help. Having services provided by the company takes all of the work and worry away from the landowner.

Transform your pond into a fi shing oasis with Lochow Ranch

“We offer a monthly maintenance service, just like a pool service or pest control company,” Jones states. “First, we start from the bottom up and correct the fi sh population with stocking, harvesting and forage addition. Then, we get and keep the vegetation level to where the owner likes it.”

From here, the everyday worries of man-aging a lake or pond are taken care of.

“Chores like installing and fi lling fi sh feeders, applying fertilizers, harvesting small bass, all the way to getting your fi shing tackle in place can be provided.”

Some pond owners need help with fi sh-ing, too.

“There are people out there that own lakes that just need some help being able to catch them,” explained Jones. “We have tourna-ment-level fi shermen on staff to help.”

Lochow Ranch Pond and Lake Man-agement is the largest pond and lake management company in Texas, and one of the largest in the nation, having helped improve more than 5,000 bodies of water.

“We believe it is because of our experi-ence, technology and unmatched custom-er service,” Jones said.

Whether your vision is a new lake or an existing pond that needs some attention, Lochow Ranch Pond and Lake Manage-ment has the recipe, and they are at the Dallas Safari Club Annual Convention to help explain how.

The DSC convention is a reunion of sorts.

“We run into 50 to 100 current clients at the convention each year,” exclaimed Jones.

Lochow Ranch can take you from dry land to an oasis while taking care of everything in between, with rewards to the owners including catching numbers of big bass, the bass of a lifetime, or just having a beautiful place to sit.

Leica sets new standard with the innovative

Rangemaster CRF 1600-B Rangefi nder

In 1992, Leica captivated the hunting community with the introduction of the fi rst commercially available laser rangefi nder, the Leica 7x42 Geovid BD. Not only was it the fi rst hunting rangefi nd-er, but Leica had cleverly integrated this into a high-performance binocular to defi ne an entirely new sport optics category.

Just as in 1992, Leica’s drive to continually push the sport optics envelope has resulted in a legacy of innovative products that set the standard for exceptional performance.

The Rangemaster CRF 1600-B extends that legacy, boasting a unique onboard ballistics system that fea-tures three modes of appli-

cation, 12 ballistic curves and three different zeroing ranges to deliver more ac-curate ballistics information than ever before. The new standards-setting Leica CRF 1600-B also features effec-tive ranging to 1,600 yards plus intuitive, easy-to-use controls.

At the heart of the CRF 1600-B is the innovative Advanced Ballistic Com-pensation (ABC) system, a high-precision integrated ballistics calculator that combines stored data with analysis of current ballistics parameters, and in a split second delivers precise details of the required compensation for point of impact. The ABC system processes current ballistics considerations including not only the measured distance from 10.9 yards to ap-proximately 1,600 yards, but also the incline/decline, temperature and absolute air pressure to calculate projectile trajectory. The ABC ballistic system ad-dresses the shooter’s needs with one program and deliv-ers relevant details with a simple push of a button.

Class-leading Leica optics technology enables shooters to clearly and vividly assess potential targets over long distances, and the large fi eld of view facilitates rapid target acquisition.

FWingshooting at its

fi nest at Wildcat Creek

For quail and pheasant hunters, it’s never too early to start preparing for the season. And Wildcat Creek Quail Hunting Resort has birds at the ready — where a memorable hunting adventure awaits.

WCR, a family affair and the vision of Ron and Evonne Parker and their sons, Nick, David and Nathan, sports a new lodge and an at-mosphere that is truly family oriented.

“We want the experience to be fi rst-class, but yet not stuffy,” said Ron Parker.

Located in Red River County near Detroit, the property consists of 1,200-plus acres of well-managed land that will take hunters back in time.

The habitat, birds and dogs are fi rst-rate, with fi elds cleared out of the thick woods by the Parkers, who also own a construction business.

“And we have cleared saplings in two ar-eas to offer hunters a true Georgia-style quail hunt with tough shots through the trees,” Ron said.

“We have been hunting a lot more in the woods,” Nick said. “Our customers love it.”

Several fl ight pens allow fl ight training for the pen-raised birds, and the birds are released before the beginning of the season.

“We want the birds to be as wild as pos-sible and explode out of the grass,” Ron said.

And it’s working.“All of our raised birds are banded,”

Nick said. “We are shooting more and more unbanded birds, so some are making it and nesting. And the neighbors are seeing some banded birds, so some are surviving.”

After the hunt, the food served at WCR may be even more memorable, prepared by son David, a trained chef who has worked at top restaurants.

WCR also offers pheasant and duck hunts and has added a fi ve-stand sporting clays station for parties and corporate events.

AAre you tired of search-ing for ammunition at retailers, only to fi nd the shelves empty when you make the trip? Ammo to Go is the answer.

The owners of Ammo To Go were frustrated with the ammo search when they started their business out of their two-car garage in Brenham and began selling ammunition at local gun shows in 2001. Now, Ammo to Go is run by husband-and-wife Jason and Jennifer Smith out of a busy ammunition warehouse, and the company website has been up and running since 2006.

Ammo to Go carries the most popular brands of ammuni-tion, including Barnes, Federal, Hornady, Remington, Winchester and many more.

“Our selection of specialty ammunition is unmatched, with a full line of Incendiary, Raufoss and Tracer ammunition,” Jason said.

Making it easy for the customer to fi nd what they are looking for is Ammo to Go’s goal. Jason and Jennifer are both avid hunters, and every-one that works at Ammo to Go uses the products they sell. Their customer service staff is always available to help the customer, whether the question comes online, over the phone or at the facility.

“Ammo To Go makes it as easy as possible for the custom-er to get what they need, and quickly,” Jason said.

With more than 6,000 items in stock, and more being added every day, Ammo to Go can meet the needs of the most discrimi-nating customers interested in hunting, personal defense or law enforcement ammo.

Shooters may be surprised to learn there are no limits on the amount of ammo that may be purchased at Ammo to Go, espe-

cially after being limited to just a few boxes at many retailers.

A trip to Ammo to Go’s website or their facility shows the company has more than just ammunition. A wide variety of accessories, batteries, knives, a broad selection of top-of-the-line optics, survival foods and gear, tactical gear, reloading supplies and much more are available, and a simple click will tell you the price and whether the item is in stock with the site’s real-time inventory.

“If the site says we have it, we have it,” Jason said.

Ammo to Go is not just an on-line venture. Walk-ins are always welcome at the facility located at 6360 FM 50 in Brenham.

Ammo to Go believes in giving back to the hunting and shoot-ing community, and Jason and Jennifer are involved in local conservation efforts including the Coastal Conservation As-sociation and Ducks Unlimited. Ammo to Go also sponsors Hunt with Heart, giving children bat-

tling severe illness the oppor-tunity to have amazing outdoor adventures, along with several other charity shoots and events, both locally and nationwide.

Make it easier on yourself and check out or call Ammo to Go. It’s your one-stop shop for all of your ammo needs.

SSTEALTH CAM’S NEW ZX7

PROCESSOR — THE NEXT LEVELStealth Cam, the leader in scouting camera in-novation, integrates its new ZX7 microprocessor into the line of game scouting cameras, creating a new breed of techno-logically advanced cameras for hunters demanding higher performance, longer run time and more features for their hard-earned dollars.

Stealth Cam’s ZX7 processor was incorporated into its full lineup for 2013 (except the Core 8). The performance upgrades in their new processor create faster trigger speeds to help capture those fast-moving bucks chasing does through your favorite hunting spot. Third-party test results have consis-tently performed at sub-second trigger speeds.

With less time available for scouting, hunters rely heavily on their cameras to aid in this time-intensive activity. Hunters who have experienced the frustration of checking their game cameras only to fi nd the batteries dead will be pleased to learn of the increased image count per battery life. The ZX7

is pushing the envelope with improved energy-effi cient cir-cuitry, resulting in up to 20,000 images per set of batteries!

“I’ve been using these new units this year and am amazed every time I pull a card,” said David J. Sams, Lone Star Outdoor News founder. “The camera is taking about 3,000 still images before I change the cards. The battery life is still showing the camera is fully charged, and I am up to 15,000 still images so far this season without a single bat-tery change. That is impressive. Last season with the older models, I was changing the batteries about every 3,000 images. What a major improvement and cost saving with this new technology.”

Beyond the fast trigger speeds and effi cient battery life, the ZX7 has even more features being offered as part of this new technology, such as 720P high-defi nition video with data time code stamping, a great tool for editing footage, plus time-lapse hybrid mode, giving you virtually three cameras in

one complete package. Still, video and time-lapse! With the onset of high-capacity SD memory cards, the

external image counter on the ZX7 processor can now display up to 99,999 frames. And programming Stealth Cam’s cam-eras is easier than ever before as the ZX7 boasts a Quick Set feature with three Preset modes, along with the manual setup mode, saving frustration as you get your gear into the fi eld.

Hunters and scouters can now appreciate Stealth Cam’s next level of scouting technology with the ZX7 processor.

What matters most is inside!

FFifteen years ago, Montana Watch Company owner/founder Jeffrey Nashan embarked on a unique venture, starting up a small business pursuing his passion to recre-ate early American timepieces.

“I created the Montana Watch Company to rekindle the great American heyday of watch manufacture,” Nashan said. “My story began with one watch — the 1915.”

The fi rst watch, the Model 1915 captured the traditional design of the earliest wrist-watches and quickly gained notoriety among watch enthusiasts worldwide. The original 1915 completed its run after selling roughly 150 classic and custom-designed watches. Bringing back this design in a Limited Edition Model 1915 Reissue seemed the perfect way to celebrate the company’s 15th anniversary, proudly debuting at Dallas Safari Club in three distinct variations:

• The Model 1915 R Classic captures the style of the original 1915. The solid sil-ver case featuring distinctive utilitarian wire lugs and the baked enamel dial with bold graphics are signature design elements in this sophisticated look. The Classic is limited to six pieces.

• The Model 1915 R Western Design features the addition of western single-point line work engraving that evokes a cowboy fl air. Hand engraved with traditional techniques that have been passed down over generations, each case has the signature scroll of our master engravers. The West-ern Design is limited to fi ve pieces.

• The Model 1915 R Western Design Premium takes the 1915 to the highest level, western single-point engraving in deep relief accents the four solid gold overlays. Each overlay and the winding crown are embellished with a

genuine ruby, the traditional 15th anniversary gemstone. The Western Design Premium is limited to four pieces.

Over the past 15 years, building on the success of the Model 1915, the Montana Watch Company has created a truly distinctive collection including nine additional models and specializing in custom designed variations. This allows customers to become highly involved in the design process, personalizing their watches with everything from embellish-ments such as hand engraving overlays and gemstones to creating their own complete proprietary design from the ground up. The Montana Watch Company provides clients the unique opportunity to customize almost every aspect of the watch, in-cluding individual dial graphics, hands, buckles and custom-fi tted, hand-cut leather straps.

While these truly distinctive heirloom quality timepieces are in-spired by the designs of early American watchmakers, close to 95

percent of Montana Watch Company’s work is in-dividually customized, each watch being designed after in-depth consultations with the client.

Once the client has decided upon individual components for their personalized custom watch, master artisans, engravers, jewelers, silversmiths and leather artists work together to complete the often intricate and unique designs. After all of the different elements are fi nished, the pieces are hand-assembled by Mr. Nashan in his studio, using the fi nest Swiss movements that he recalibrates to his own exacting speci-fi cations. In order to maintain the high qual-ity of craftsmanship for which it is now well known, Montana Watch only builds 75 to 100 watches per year.

The opportunity to design what inevitably be-comes a highly personalized and treasured heir-loom is what makes Montana Watch Company different from the majority of other watchmakers worldwide. This unique Montana business caters to every taste, from bold and fl ashy to subtle

classic sophistication. Montana watches don’t just tell time, they tell a story.

“Many people today have abandoned the tradition of wear-ing a wristwatch in favor of high-tech cellular devices to keep track of their day,” Nashan said. “Montana Watch Company clients take pleasure in a functional piece of artwork proudly displayed and enjoyed on their person. Each glance reminds them of our American heritage and craftsmanship uniquely celebrated in traditional vintage styling and the customization that refl ects their own personal style.”

CCustom Rifle maker Lex Webernick has been an exhibitor at the Dallas Safari Club annual convention since 1988. Many a DSC member and convention attendee has discovered the joy of carrying and hunting with a custom-made, lightweight rifl e from his company, Rifl es, Inc.

“It is always exciting being at the convention,” Weber-nick said. “I get the chance to renew friendships and visit with fellow hunters. I enjoy seeing new products and dis-cussing new rifl e projects and calibers with both people in the industry and shooters.”

Webernick has watched the convention’s incredible growth, “but it still keeps its friendly and hunter-core atmosphere,” he said.

This year, Webernick is noticing increased interest in the 6.5-caliber rifl es.

“I’m seeing a lot of inter-est in them — I’m attributing it to the new, high-perfor-mance .264 diameter bul-lets,” he said. “This includes renewed interest in the time-tested .260 Remington, as well as the 6.5x284 and the new 26 Nosler.”

Those interested in these

calibers or the more tradi-tional need look no further to obtain a lightweight, top-performing rifl e.

“These are great medium calibers with mild recoil — suitable for long-range target and hunting applications,” Webernick said. “I’m working on a couple of rifl es both in the 5-pound, lightweight Strata model and long-range Masters in the 26 Nosler. I’ve also been doing more in-depth ballistic work with the new bullets in the 6.5 Creedmore and .280 Ackley Improved calibers. The .280 Ackley Improved has been a longtime favorite and now there is more interest with

HHeritage Auctions, the world’s third largest auction house with annual sales exceeding $800 million, is now the industry’s only top-tier fi rm to hold luxury real estate auctions. Heritage offers you a powerful platform that reaches our client base of more than 800,000 bidder-members worldwide.

Heritage specializes in the marketing and sale of luxury real estate valued at $2 million and above throughout the United States, the Caribbean and select international destinations. With our innovative market-ing and exclusive methods of obtaining a closed sale, we provide an established and effective alternative to

selling high-end properties. As interest in real estate auctions increases, the

advantages of buying and selling homes at auction are becoming clearer. Our experts have detailed below a number of those benefi ts.

Auctions are profi table for tactful and savvy sellers and buyers alike. Our method offers buyers access to one-of-a-kind properties while enabling sellers to enjoy the most effi cient and fi nancially rewarding approach to selling their property.

• Competitive bidding achieves true market value. Unlike traditional listings, an auction captures the

market for a given property, allowing a competitive fi eld of buyers to determine the highest possible selling price. Our far-reaching marketing cam-paigns attract this committed pool of international buyers, providing sellers with the assurance that the true market value for their homes is achieved.

• A timely and cost-effective way to sell your prop-erty. While a luxury property listing remains on the current market an average of three to fi ve years, the auction process produces much faster results. From consignment to closing, the property will be sold within 90 days. Auctions are also more cost-effective than traditional real estate transactions, enabling us to offer attractive referral incentives.

• Realtors are part of the process. Agents are en-couraged to participate, with no loss or sacrifi ce of commission structure on their part. Informed agents are integral to the Heritage process by helping interested buyers understand the process and evaluate the property. Heritage’s directors have fostered many broker relationships and share their wealth of knowledge and expertise with their sell-ers and buyers.

• Real Estate Auctions with Heritage are simple, effi cient and transparent. From start to fi nish, the luxury real estate team will work with both buyers and sellers to ensure they experience none of the stress and complications that often come with traditional home sales. Our team provides due diligence packages that include fully detailed information on the property, from third-party expert inspection reports and architect’s drawings to tax and zoning information. We pride ourselves on the transparency of our bidding procedures and we work with each buyer individually to make sure they understand the value of the property.

Do you have a one-of-a-kind luxury property you’re ready to sell? Are you interested in purchasing a specifi c type of property? Contact us today to learn more about buying and selling luxury real estate with Heritage Auctions.

PPeter Thormählen is always on the search for new and exciting African hunting areas. Recently acquired concessions in Namibia offer the extremes the country has to offer, from the dry, arid areas in the west to the lush, green, water-fi lled areas in the east.

The Mahango concession in the Caprivi Strip offers a true wilder-ness feel at the Mahango area of the Bwabwata National Park. Remote with very little develop-ment, the area is in northeastern Namibia on the Botswanan border. The contrasting vegetation of Mahango makes it a fascinating experience, as the river offers a blend of trees, reeds and grasses along its banks. On the wetlands, the Omurambas, which are fossil rivers, are cov-ered with open grassland with tall acacia and bushwillow around the borders.

Year-round water ensures an abundance of game, especially during the dry winter months, April-November. Mahango is home to many species of plains game including roan, sable, lechwe, burchell zebra, blue wildebeest, kudu, warthog, giraffe, duiker and impala.

“Apart from antelope we have a hunting quota of two elephant, four buffalo, two hippo and two crocodile,” owner Peter Thormählen said. “The elephants migrate between Angola and the Okavango Delta in Botswana.

“If you want to hunt in lush, tropical, water-fi lled areas of eastern Namibia, this is a great place to go.”

Heading west with Thormählen & Cochran, hunters will fi nd themselves in very large un-fenced concessions, offering true desert-style hunting with class.

Lone Star Outdoor News’ founder David J.

Sams, hunting this past July with his daugh-ter, Marina, were just the second hunting group in the Anabeb concession.

“Peter built another fi rst-class tent camp,” Sams said. “I like the challenge of hunting in the desert and last summer was exceptionally dry, which made it even more challenging. I’m amazed how the game survives in such a dry area.”

The quality of the animals was top-notch.“When you came across game, it was of the

trophy quality hunters have come to expect from Thormählen & Cochran,” Sams said. “Marina harvested a springbuck that was way up in the gold medal status.”

And after bouncing across the dry desert all day long, relaxing at the luxury tent camp and eating the game that they harvested made the trip a real pleasure.

Wingshooting and big whitetails at Greystone Castle

Since 1995, travelers on I-20 have been wondering what it is they see as they approach the Thurber exit about 70 miles west of Fort Worth. They see the big English-style castle that looms atop one of the majestic mesas and wonder what it is. However, for avid wingshooters and sports-men across Texas and the rest of the country — they know it’s Greystone Castle Sporting Club.

For more than a decade, Greystone Castle has been part of the Orvis family as one of their premier wingshooting destina-tions. Although wingshooting has certainly been Greystone’s forte for many years now, one aspect of their management expertise that has sometimes been overlooked is their success in producing trophy white-tailed deer.

“We went to Greystone Castle in October to shoot one of their native whitetail bucks,” said Lone Star Outdoor News Managing Edi-tor Conor Harrison. “We thought the hunt would be an easy trip. Boy, were we wrong. We hunted

hard for several days and fi nally found a mature buck. There are no corn feeders going off here — just a challenging hunt.”

Harrison said deer hunting isn’t the only impressive aspect about Greystone Castle.

“The facilities are world-class,” he said. “From sporting clays to wingshooting to exotics, this place has it all. The food was amazing and the people are really what make Greystone special. They go above and beyond to make sure the visiting sports-man’s every need is taken care of. I’ve hunted all over the world and this is one of the fi nest lodges I have ever had the pleasure to hunt and stay.”

Last year, their hunters harvest-ed more than 30 trophy whitetails, including four in the top 20 of the SCI Record Book. This success has continued already this year with their hunters taking numer-ous deer topping 150 inches, including several above 200. With that type of success just in the month of October, the remaining

part of the season prom-ises to be one for the record books.

And that’s what is so unique and compelling about Greystone Castle. It can be so many things to so many different sportsmen. To the upland gunner, large fi elds of sorghum, millet, and switch grass bring memories of great gun dogs, fl ushing pheasants, bobwhite covey rises, and days in the fi eld with friends. For the big game hunter, it’s 6,000 acres that offer some of the best whitetail hunting in the country and more than 40 species of exotic game. For the clay shooter, it’s the great sporting clays and pyramid 5-stand courses that will test the best of shooters. And for the avid angler, their tro-phy bass lakes present year-round opportunities for tight lines on largemouth and hybrid stripers.

What appeals to all visitors at Greystone are its top-of-the-line accommodations and gourmet meals. There are fi ve elegantly

decorated suites capable of host-ing more than 25 guests, a dining room complete with a full-time executive chef, spacious confer-ence facilities, a swimming pool with hot tub, and just outside the castle walls, a scenic lookout affords a breathtaking view of the entire estate.

The ownership and staff have been dedicated to creating one of the fi nest sporting destinations found anywhere in the world. Long-term habitat improvement

and wildlife management have made Greystone an extraordinary hunting destination. This coupled with the unique castle facility and outstanding customer service makes Greystone Castle a place without equal.

TTrophy Ridge Whitetails in Saint Jo is a top deer breeding as well as hunting operation, and ranch owners and managers can take advantage of its suc-cess to improve the deer genetics on your ranch — at a reasonable price.

Using the “pen to pasture” method with bred does, several does can roam the ranch and are more likely to continue producing for several years.

“Most of what we know about whitetail genetics is what we can see — either their body size or antler size,” said Dick Cain, the owner of Trophy Ridge and former professor at Texas A&M University. “For decades, hunters have taken some of the biggest bucks out of the breeding popula-tion, yet every year big bucks are still har-vested. That’s because the does provide half of a fawn’s genes and visually they are silent about their contribution.”

Bucks also can be placed on the prop-erty in pen to pasture, but at more risk and it also costs more.

“It’s more expensive and their chances of contributing to the herd are diminished by fi ghting with other bucks, predation or exhaustion after the rut or harvest,” Cain said. “If you put out a doe, she’s likely to live eight or nine years and will continue to contribute her genetics.

“It’s the most effi cient way to improve the genetics on a ranch.”

For years, deer breeders have realized the importance of genes for antler char-acteristics from both the buck and the doe. DNA-verifi ed pedigrees go back six or seven generations on some bucks.

By concentrating on several genera-tions of does from the best bucks in the

deer industry, consistent results have been achieved. The North American Deer Registry maintains DNA records of supe-rior does so they can be bred to outstand-ing bucks.

But ranchers considering improving the genetics of their deer herd need to address habitat fi rst, Cain said.

“After making habitat improvements, one option includes the use of a DMP (Deer Management Permit) through TPWD,” Cain said. “A minimum 5-acre high-fenced pen is used so one superior buck can breed up to 20 does, where research has shown that dominant bucks in the pasture usually only breed two or

three does a year.” Many ranchers, though, fi nd it very pro-

ductive and less expensive to release bred does purchased from deer breeders in the early spring.

Usually done on high-fenced ranches, the pen to pasture process has been achieved inside low fences as well.

“We did it on a group of low-fenced ranches that totaled 26,000 acres,” Cain said. “We left the ear tags in them and the different ranch owners continued to see them. On smaller ranches, though, there is the risk the does will leave.”

Any ranch with a desire to improve the genetics of their deer herd should con-

sider pen to pasture with bred does.“These does will make a signifi cant

genetic contribution for years to come,” Cain said. “And they are a better invest-ment — you can put fi ve bred does out there for the same cost as one good buck.”

For the most successful results, contact the biologists at Trophy Ridge Whitetails.

NNick Nolte Hunting Safaris has a well-established international reputation as one of Namibia’s renowned safari out-fi tters, providing an exclusive service for the hunter with excellent quality trophies, luxury accommodations, African cuisine and great company!

“My father, Ben Nolte, was one of the fi rst three highly acclaimed professional hunters in Namibia,” Nolte said. “He began with trophy hunting and game farm-ing in the early 1970s, known as Omaruru Safaris. Our business in trophy hunting has been in the family for more than 28 years.”

Nick Nolte Hunting Safaris is located in the central part of Namibia, near Omaru-ru, about a 2 1/2-hour drive northwest of Windhoek’s international airport.

Nick and his wife, Isabel, cater for both fi rst-time and experienced hunters as well as large groups. Their lodge nestles against a hillside overlooking the Epako River, with luxury guest rooms, a swim-ming pool and a fl oodlit waterhole in front of the lodge that allows for game viewing and photography.

The hunting concessions are famed for

their variety and quality of game. The areas consist of savannah thorn bush, dry river-beds and mountainous country where the majestic kudu roam. Nick Nolte Hunting Safaris has more than 29 species available to hunt, on more than 100,000 hectares (247,000 acres) of prime hunting land.

“The limited number of annual hunts practiced in my free-roaming concessions allows the opportunity to hunt excel-lent trophies,” Nolte said. “Our climate, terrain and abundance of game allow for spectacular rifl e and bow hunting. Na-mibia is also home to some of the worlds fi nest sporting birds.”

Nick is passionate about sharing his love and expertise of wildlife, the envi-ronment and hunting with clients. He believes in the principles of fair chase, respect for the game and nature and therefore thoroughly enjoys hunting on foot. Nick will make sure the best pos-sible shot is taken and that a completely mature animal is presented.

Our vehicles are fully equipped and fi tted with every accessory to ensure you have the best possible safari!

Actor Gerald McRaney, host of “The World of Beretta” television series, hunted leopard and plains game with the Noltes, and wrote:

“Thank you for a trip of a lifetime. Not only was the hunting superb and the food and drink beyond compare, but the feeling was immedi-ate that was among friends. Nick and Isabel, you should be proud of your operation! Many thanks to your entire staff for a wonderful stay!”

“We invite every hunter to bring his wife, children and friends, as they will be spoiled while you are out hunting,” Isabel said.

NNHS also specializes in organiz-ing exclusive customized photographic, sightseeing and fi shing safaris throughout Namibia.

22013 marks the 10th consecutive year that Rock Island Auction Company has led the fi rearms auction industry in sales. That’s a DECADE of maintaining the posi-tion of #1 fi rearms auction house in the world. We are as proud as we are grateful and we know that we could not have done it without the friendship and patronage of tens of thousands of collectors and investors from around the globe. Rock Island Auction Company sells all different types of fi rearms from very serviceable weapons to extremely rare, museum-grade pieces, but we wouldn’t be where we are today without the attention given to high-end, luxury fi rearms.

We offer items for collectors of all levels and have several different auction types to accommodate these varying interests. How-ever, you can’t remain on top, with millions of dollars of sales each and every year, without offering the very best to the collecting and investment communities. Our luxury and collectable fi rearms appeal to top buyers who know where to turn when they want to invest in the cream of the crop. As recently as our September 2013 Premiere Firearms Auction, RIAC sold the fi nest iron-frame Henry rifl e in existence. Less than several hundred of these rare variants were made and our serial no. 49 sold for a world record $603,750! A spectacular 1866 Winchester from the same collector also enjoyed a great success. It was a magnifi cent, documented, Conrad Ulrich engraved, gold-washed masterpiece cre-ated for exhibition that remained in superb condition. Its sale price of $437,000 was yet another proof of RIAC’s ability to put the best guns into the ready hands of appreciative

A decade of success

collectors. We could go on and on about

six-fi gure guns that pass through RIAC’s doors, but we all know that it doesn’t require that much to fi nd a beautiful fi rearm that can be ap-preciated as easily by a historian or art enthusiast as it can a gun col-lector. Many collectors seek out the early, high-condition Winchester rifl es and Colt six-shooters that are main staples of our auctions. Oth-ers prefer to fi nd the highly ornate, antique pieces such as elegant dueling pistol sets, meticulously

crafted European fl intlocks, or su-perbly embellished and inlaid long arms. Some just prefer the historic pistols attributed to famous heroes or outlaws, swords presented to military offi cers of old, famously exhibited guns, or even fi rearms belonging to former presidents of the United States!

Our most recent Premiere Auc-tion, held the fi rst week of December 2013, contained a genre of interest to anyone attending the Dallas Safari Convention: luxury sporting arms. Cased, masterfully crafted shotguns

rested alongside engraved and gold inlaid sa-fari-grade rifl es. German drillings in their fi nely engineered glory juxtaposed splendidly with handsome, big bore game rifl es in every caliber fathomable, often engraved with images of their intended quarry. Shotguns and rifl es of this stature are a mainstay at RIAC sales and we welcome the opportunity to conduct business with fellow supporters of the Dallas Safari Club. You’ll be astounded at the selection of weapons from such renowned manufacturers as Holland & Holland, John Dickson & Son, Merkel, Pur-dey & Sons, Fraser & Co., Charles Lancaster, Ludwig Brovnik, Rodda, Krieghoff, Winchester, Browning and Beretta. Whether you’re looking for your next hunting rifl e, a beautiful medium of craftsmanship, or a sound investment, we’d be honored to assist you.

Rock Island Auction Company is the world’s #1 auction company for fi rearms, bladed weapons and militaria. Founded in 1993 by its current owner and President Patrick Hogan, RIAC continues to set records for sales and to lead the industry with its extensive and beautiful marketing efforts. Their 86,000 square-foot facility hosts eight auctions each year. They actively seek consignments, be it a single item or a collec-tion of hundreds, a thousand-dollar item or a million-dollar item.

Let your mount live to tell the story

After the hunting trip of a lifetime, the importance of quality mounting of your trophy animals can’t be understated. B&B Taxidermy is there to help, with the experience, creativity and customer service that makes most fi rst-time visitors into lifelong customers.

B&B Taxidermy has been in business since 1983 in Houston, and provides taxidermy for North American, African and global mounts.

“Every job is custom,” owner Mike Baird said. “It’s all getting to know the people and fi guring out what they really want.”

The team of 12 taxidermists, led by Baird, has the experience to design and prepare the mount to the customer’s liking.

“Many of our employees have been with us for more than 20 years,” said Jo Baird, Mike’s wife, who handles much of the customer service.

“We really take care of our customers,” she said. “Most of them become friends.”

B&B also specializes in designing and deco-rating trophy rooms in homes and businesses across the state and the country, where cus-tom-designed dioramas for your trophy mounts can be accomplished above and beyond your expectations. Mike Baird and the staff excel at creating a visually stunning trophy room in any amount of space you have available.

Mike Baird’s history in taxidermy dates back

to when he was 5 years old. He took his fi rst course in taxidermy with Kent Betts in 1979 at Cypress Creek High School. From there, he was hooked, continuing to hang around a local taxidermist shop and help with anything they needed, always studying the animals.

In 1983, Baird started his own taxidermy business along with his good friend and avid hunter, Leonard Bayer.

B&B has grown since its humble beginnings into a thriving business, thanks to hard work and long hours. Baird now can take his clients and family overseas to hunt, as well as take part in plenty of local deer and bird hunting.

B&B invites you to stop by its showroom at 11030 Jones Road West in Houston, where they will be glad to show all the mounting op-tions to meet your needs.

Mike Baird still has that love for the animals and is always looking for new ways to mount your trophies and preserve the memories for a lifetime, and it shows in every mount that goes out of the doors of B&B Taxidermy.

AAbout a decade ago, like other un-informed hunters, attending the Dallas Safari Club convention was not at the top of my list. Growing up hunting ducks, geese, pheasant and grouse in North Dakota with my father and brothers and continuing with dove, ducks and geese after coming to Texas in 1981, big game wasn’t a priority.

Then I went to my fi rst DSC show at Dallas Market Hall. Like all fi rst-timers, the outfi t-ters, taxidermy and art amazed. Even more, I kept running into people I knew, most from the legal profession, who also were just simple bird hunters and fi shermen. A conver-sation or two about what DSC was about was all it took.

This year marks the 8th year of Lone Star Outdoor News’ partnership with DSC that includes our preparation of the Convention Show Program. We are grateful to DSC, the exhibitors and advertisers and our readers for supporting this effort, one that seems to grow each year as DSC also grows.

Since that visit to the convention a decade ago, I received my fi rst rifl e (a 50th birthday gift from LSON) four years ago, and at age 53 bought a Namibian hunt at one of the auctions, got my fi rst-ever passport and hopped on a plane to Africa.

The reason behind the saying, “No one goes to Africa once,” became clear. We have been asked many times, “Why is DSC so successful?”Some would say the dedicated staff and leadership, the hundreds of volunteers, the un-

matched care for exhibitors or the sponsors from pillars in the industry. They may all be correct. At LSON, we think it’s more than that. At DSC, we are successful because we are a family,

one made up from people across the globe of all shapes, sizes and colors, and with varying interests. The DSC family has one thing in common, though, that being the preservation of animals and their habitat and to see them survive and thrive. And with our collective dedication and reliance on science-based management, we are the ones who know how to do it.

AAt the Dallas Safari Club Conven-tion, the 5th annual Distinguished Lec-tureship in Quail Management will feature a renowned professor who has studied parasites in wild birds.

Dr. Peter J. Hudson, director of the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences and Wil-laman Professor of Biology at Penn State University, will speak on Fri., Jan. 10, 2014 at Ballroom C4 of the Dallas Con-vention Center. The lecture is free to the public.

Dr. Hudson has spent years investigat-ing the dynamics of infectious disease in wildlife, how diseases spread through wild animal populations and how they impact host dynamics. His passion is to under-take revealing fi eld experiments and apply theory to understand how parasites interact with their hosts, other natural enemies and climatic conditions to affect the dynamics of hosts.

Hudson’s groundbreaking research demonstrated that parasites cause popula-tion cycles in red grouse, and showed how parasites shared between hosts can lead to localized host extinction.

The Rolling Plains Quail Research Foun-dation has invested more than $3.5 million in the past three years to assess the role of disease and parasites in quail. Is there a precedent for our concern? We believe there is, and Dr. Hudson’s research in Scotland provides an interesting analogy in the red grouse.

Hudson has published more than 250 scientifi c papers and four books on the ecology of infectious disease. He was elect-ed a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2008

and Corresponding Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 2010. In 2012 he was elected a Fellow of The American Association for The Advancement of Sci-ence. All things shotgun at Retriever

Sporting Clays

WWhether it is sporting clays or skeet for a gun range or ranch, or shooting a flying airplane (a ‘Gnat’), Retriever Sporting Clays is your one-shop stop, even for a corporate or family outing, bachelor party or charity event.

Owner Chris Ryan is entering his 29th year in business, and is into everything shotgun.

A veteran of building skeet fields and sporting clays cours-es, Ryan sets up and builds three to four skeet and sporting clays fields per month.

“We’ll build it, rent it, release it or fly it,” Ryan said.

Best of all, Retriever Sporting Clays will come to you.

A mobile trailer with battery-operated and automatic Lincoln Traps provides the full array of clay target games, including sporting clays, 5-stand, Annie Oakley, Crazy Quail, skeet, trap or the new and popular “Wobble Trap,” that provides a much more extreme target flight path where the shooter never knows where the target is going to fly.

“Retriever Sporting Clays was the first in the nation to offer a mobile sporting clays unit,” Ryan said. “And the Wobble Trap is the one we sell and rent the most.”

Does your group need shoot-ing instruction? Retriever Sporting Clays NSCA-certified instructors will help.

“It is a great chance to obtain

teaching for new shooters and children to tips for the seasoned sporting clays shooter,” Ryan said.

For those who want to really challenge themselves, give the Gnat a try.

“Basically, it’s an airplane that is smaller and specifically designed to be shot at with shotguns,” Ryan said. “A little target plane comes zipping in, shows a flash of belly and pulls into a steep climbing turn. If the shooter scores a hit it sets off a charge from one of the 10 flash pods attached to the wing.”

The aircraft, under the control of experienced “pilots,” can fly up to 80 miles per hour and change directions rapidly, of-fering the hardest shots target shooters will ever encounter.

Retriever Sporting Clays doesn’t just rent trap throwers, though. Gun clubs head to them when buying throwers for their courses, and ranch owners can, too.

“We just finished a full skeet course on a ranch in South Texas,” Ryan said.

It’s all things shotgun at Retriever Sporting Clays.

“If you want to do something with a shotgun, call us,” Ryan said.

WWhether you are glassing over miles for elk or mule deer in the Colorado mountains or sitting in a Texas deer blind taking high-resolution photos of a whitetail buck at 300 yards, Nikon’s new MONARCH Fieldscope is the perfect addition to your optics collection.

The new Hybrid Optical System provides the best in functionality for all uses in the fi eld. A redesigned optical system and body provides maximum optical performance for observation. The fl exibility of being able to change from a straight to an angled body and the use of dif-ferent eyepieces makes viewing and evaluating animals at long distances clear and easy.

In recent years, hunters are borrowing from the pages of the birdwatchers’ book, desiring quality images of the animals they are watch-ing. Digiscoping, coupling the fi eldscope with your digital camera to take distant shots, is made easy by a prism unit that can be removed from the objective lens unit and interchanged, making it possible to select the lens diameter, prism and attachment suited to your needs.

The MONARCH Fieldscope offers prime focus digiscoping, where the objective lens unit mounts on an interchangeable lens digital

camera via the attachment without using the prism and eyepiece. The light entering the lens directly reaches the image sensor to form an image, taking advantage of the lens’ optical performance to perform super-telephoto shoot-ing with ultra-high resolution.

Sharp pictures at long distances with even higher resolution are now attainable.

Built with Nikon’s ED Glass Lenses, MON-ARCH Fieldscopes deliver superior sharpness and color correction for unmatched detail resolution. This polished and refi ned optical system achieves as clear a view as possible.

Another new addition is the Dual Trans-Fo-cus System, where the focusing ring provides two focus speeds. Rotating the focusing ring with a large angle performs fast focusing and then rotating it in the opposite direction performs slower and precise focusing. Focus speed automatically slows down to one-third. The fast focus can catch quick-moving animals, while the fi ne focus adjustment highlights the animal in precise detail for super-telephoto digiscoping.

It’s a fully adjustable three-piece system that is SLR camera adaptable.

TThe all-new Viking EPS Side-by-side (SxS) vehicle sets a new standard in the three-person multipurpose SxS segment. Every Yamaha Viking is being assembled in the U.S.A. at Yamaha’s factory in Newnan, Ga., for worldwide distribution.

The new Viking combines Yamaha’s most powerful four-wheel drive engine to date with a comfortable three-person cab, precision steer-ing and class-leading handling.

The vehicle’s distinctive features make it the most off-road capable vehicle in its class and the only one with true three-person seating ca-pacity, making it not only hardworking but fun to drive on the farm as well as the trail.

The Viking’s exclusive pass-through bucket seating features an offset center position (set 5 degrees back) that improves comfort with maximum shoulder room for all three occu-pants, with three-point seat belts for every-one, plus headrests all around, adjustable handhold for both passengers and a textured fl oorboard with dedicated foot wells.

“The Viking tops its competition with pre-cise steering and superior handling, excelling in the areas of durability, reliability, ease of use, and cargo and towing capacity,” said Mike Martinez, vice president of Yamaha’s ATV/SxS Group.

Power comes from Yamaha’s strongest four-wheel drive engine to date — a 686cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke, SOHC, single-cylinder, 4-valve fuel-injected engine that provides peak performance at maximum capacity. Yamaha Fuel Injection delivers consistent starts and power even at elevation and in cold weather, and the 9.7-gallon fuel tank allows for long days of use.

Yamaha’s three-way On-Command system, featuring 2WD, 4WD and 4WD with differen-tial lock, is a driver-controlled system with an automotive-type rotary dial selector, giving the driver the control and confi dence to lock in all four wheels based on the terrain.

Yamaha’s Ultramatic transmission with high, low and reverse and the industry’s most natural feeling all-wheel engine braking gives the driver confi dence especially on hills and in rough terrain.

The optional Electric Power Steering system provides the balance of light feeling with positive feedback from the terrain. The system reads steering wheel torque, vehicle speed, On-Command setting and negative feedback to determine the appropriate amount of assist in any given situation.

The Viking’s rear steel cargo bed is large enough to carry a fully loaded pallet, and the assisted dump bed can pack up to 600 pounds of equipment and supplies while the standard 2-inch receiver hitch is rated to pull 1,500 pounds.

The chassis sports nearly 12-inches of ground clearance at the lowest point, a

full steel/composite smooth skid plate front to back and side to side, and an optimized frame with upturned side rails allowing for smoother transitions over obstacles.
