Dale had

a ferry with a route going from Dale to Eikenes that was replaced by the bridge

this loss in transportation makes a lot of people disappointed

Everything is close

The church and the graveyard is right next to the old municipality building. On the other side, the souvenir shop. On the third side, the river. The church lays in the crossing of to wide streets. The wall that encloses the graveyard and the church is quite low. It’s almost like the graves are in the middle of the road.

The Dale Church

In the center of attention, right next to the Dalselva, in the end of the central street, is the church. In a crossing. The graves surrounds it, overlooking the water where the river joins the fjord.

A white wooden church that looks just like all the churches in the area, easily confused with the other Dale. But with a organist with a masters degree from Yale.

The watching-people-spot

In the Allmuen kafè & interiør everybody in Dale meet. It’s the heart of the town. From the large windows you see people coming from the bank, going to the church, heading to do some shopping at Coop, getting there coffee served at the outdoor seatings in February.

And you see the common wood houses near by and a bit further away, higher up, on the other side of the river. And in the background, the mountains of Askvoll.

Protected house

By the mooring on the vest side of the Dalselva, a large house is situated. Larger than the other houses it looks out over the Dalsfjord. New and shiny it towers up on the stone wall. Protected by a wall of its own in case the other one shouldn’t be enough. Wood fences painted in white around the balconies, on three levels.
