History of the model* The Mercedes-Benz type 123 belongs to the class of medium sized vehicles – internal code of
Mercedes: E-Class – and was a benchmark in vehicle safety at its time. To give people a chance to get
one of the eligible models even faster, purchase contracts of new cars had been dealt with incredible
extra charges up to DM 5000,00, something that never has happened again in West Germany’s history
of automobile mass production.*
The newly developed 4-cylider M-102 gasoline engine of the 230 E with its 136 HP and state-of-the-art
fuel injection replaced the old-fashioned and inefficient M-115 and closed the gap to comparable models
of the competitors. Furthermore number one positions in several breakdown statistics of the ADAC
(German Automobile Club) testified the extraordinary reliability of the model. Due to the fact that on
the one hand side the body design looks very vintage today with its chrome bumpers etc. and on the
other side the car amazes with very modern technical solutions (especially in passenger safety) and road
capability, the W123 is a very interesting option for many vintage car enthusiasts.*
Our car in detail Forget everything you have seen and heard about Mercedes W123: this car of the second series,
upgraded with a controlled catalytic converter and cavity sealing/undercoat from the day of its initial
registration will beat them all. In case of condition as well as in originality. This Mercedes even smells
like new.
Although the car has always been registered for road use, there are only 36000 kilometers on its clock.
The owner used the Mercedes only to drive to his summer residence.
Of course the car was maintained regularly at a Mercedes-Benz garage, to keep all mechanical parts
running perfectly. Besides this maintenance nothing has been done with the car – it is in a sensational
condition.
