1. Advice sent home in the first learning at home pack: Each family should make decisions about how you use your time at home with careful consideration of your own
and your child’s well-being. Schools understand that this can be a stressful time and taking care of each other is a
priority.
By keeping with familiar routines and structures students are more likely to stay calm, engage with different ‘work’
tasks, and use positive behaviour. Transition back to school will be easier too.
• Timetables – let students know what is going to happen, make a list or use pictures to support
• First and Then – doing ‘work’ or non-preferred activities first and then a reward or preferred activity (visual
included in the pack)
• Timers are a great way to transition from one activity to another (use a phone, or put a sticker on the clock)
• Adjust times for activities to maximise success, personalise length of activities and expectations for your
child
