Jeremiah Days, for boys entering 7th thru 9th grades will take place July 8 - 11. First Call Retreat, for young men entering 10th thru college will take place July 15 - 18. The cost is $90.00. These camps & retreats are open to all youth, not just those who have already shown interest in the priest-hood and religious life. The goal is to have fun and at the same time plant seeds for the future. This is an excellent program for our youth that are to be making their Confirmation in the coming year. This is an opportunity to learn about their faith, religious life and priesthood from Sisters, Nuns, Priests and Seminarians first hand. For more information, anyone can check out our web-site www.rockforddiocese.org/vocations.

VOCATIONS CORNER by Fr. Keith Romke “Yes” and don’t be afraid to Commit! One issue that I see present in the lives of many teenagers today (although we’re all susceptible!) is the difficulty to say yes and to commit to something. For example, one of them might receive and invitation to go to a party on a Friday night about a week away, and even though they are 100% open and available on that evening, they say “Maybe” rather than saying yes. The reason why is because they want to keep their options open in case if a better offer comes along! This happens all the time, and again I think this sometimes happens to all of us. We can see a good opportunity arise, but we’re hesitant to embrace it because we’d rather do something great! I think that this biggest place where this plagues individuals come when trying to discern one’s vocation especially the question of what God might be calling one to dedicate their entire life to! Even if we feel called to some-thing, we can be hesitant to take the leap of Faith and enter into it because we don’t know if something better might be on the horizon. What we have to trust is that if God is calling us and we sense this, that it WILL be what is best for us. So too, if we assess things by our standards, chances are that we’ll think that something else will fulfill us more than what God is calling us to, because more often than not the value of our vocation and the difference that we can make in the world will not be immediately apparent. So if God calls say YES and prepare yourself for the time of your life!

Have you ever felt judged by your family? St. John Paul II noted that the family "is the cradle of life and love" (On the Lay Members of Christ's Faithful, 40). Yet unmet expectations and divergent priorities can cause tension in even the most loving family situations. This is true for us, and it was true for Jesus! In today's Gospel, Jesus has returned home to Nazareth. A large crowd gathered, and Jesus finds himself facing stiff opposition from his family. This was likely Jesus' large, extended family. The Semitic language has no specific words for extended relatives, so everyone is "brother" or "sister." The entire clan has gotten wind of Jesus' preaching, and they are not amused. "They set out to seize him, for they said, 'He is out of his mind.'" To make matters worse, the religious authorities even accuse Jesus of being possessed by a demon. It's a mess by any standards. The family's perspective is perhaps understand-able. In Jewish culture, teachers and scribes underwent intensive schooling and apprenticeships, none of which Jesus had done. The family knew Jesus the carpenter, not Jesus the rabbi. For them, Jesus' bold preaching threatened the reputation of their family! Jesus' words to his family can seem controversial. "Who are my mother and my brothers?" Yet Jesus knows what he is about. He has always known he would be about the business of his Heavenly Father. And what is that business? It is the business of the new covenant and the Kingdom of God. In this Kingdom, we are all adopted sons and daughters of the King. Jesus begins, even now, to expand the perspective of his listeners. Being welcomed into this family does not depend on our families of birth or ethnic origin, but a wholehearted commitment to "do the will of God." - Liturgical Publications, Inc
