The featured event of the day was the $5,000 Welcome Stake and pizza party at the Dietrich Derby Field. Congratulations to Gonzola Garcia with Jennifer Gamboa’s Classic Z, who topped the field of 10. We also awarded the first of our Circuit Champion Awards for the Hunter Breeding and Professional Divisions! Welcome to Aiken for all of you coming in for the weekend classes. We are excited for a nice, sunny couple of days. MAIN HUNTER RING The professional divisions wrapped up today, starting with the High Performance/Green Hunters. Julie Curtin rode Charlotte Warren’s Enticement for the win in the first round and Thomas Visconsi’s Signal Hill topped the second round with Daniel Geitner. Enticement received the Champion award over Signal Hill in Reserve. Enticement also received the Green Hunter Circuit Champion Award! Signal Hill was the Performance Hunter Circuit Champion. In the first round of First Year Green Hunters, Julie Curtin won with Mythbuster, a mount she co-owns with Harbor Hill. Daniel Geitner took blue with Emma Wilson’s Ajax in the second round, giving them enough for the Champion award over Mythbuster who took the Reserve call. Avery Lynch’s Tumbling Dice with Megan Rosenthal and Trevor Hawthorne’s Standoff each received a first and second in Performance Hunter 3’3”/3’6”. Jared Depermentier rode Amanda Hones’ Solstice to the top in the first round of Pre-Green Hunter over Leslie Wheat’s Sigh with Bruce Christison who won the second round. Solstice ended with the Champion award and Sigh was Reserve Champion. Sigh also took the Pre-Green Hunter Circuit Champion Award. Daniel Geitner took the first and second place in the $1,000 Pre-Green Incentive Stake, winning with his own mount Select with the high score of 87 over Walk the Line’s Caspari. The first 3’ Performance Hunter over fences class was won by Elizabeth Tarumianz’ Contemporary with Megan Godard and the second class was topped by Sara Nason and her mount Wat Tyler, both over Privilege with Elsbeth Loughrey.

The March Madness II continued at Highfields Event Center drying

MAIN HUNTER RING

The professional divisions wrapped up today, starting with the High

Performance/Green Hunters. Julie Curtin rode Charlotte Warren’s

Enticement for the win in the first round and Thomas Visconsi’s

Signal Hill topped the second round with Daniel Geitner. Enticement

received the Champion award over Signal Hill in Reserve.

Enticement also received the Green Hunter Circuit Champion

Award! Signal Hill was the Performance Hunter Circuit Champion.

In the first round of First Year Green Hunters, Julie Curtin won with

DIETRICH DERBY FIELD

Meter jumper classes ran on the Dietrich Derby Field on Friday. The single .85m class was won by Melissa Sarle with

Nick Edmunds’ Noble Contessa. Varom, owned by Belle Fulmer, with Rebecca Cameron topped the first .95m class

and Creevagh Freddie with owner August Torsilieri won the second both over Homersrun with owner Erin McClain

who took the red ribbon in both classes. Derbydown’s Just Guess Z with Genevieve Edwards won the 1.05m class.

Bella Dama, owned by Hilary Zak, with Christina Jason won the first 1.10m class and Casey Mason rode Susie Clarke’s

Toffypops to the top in the second 1.10m class. 1.15m were next with Casey Mason and Toffypops taking another

blue in the first class over Easton M and owner Taryn Nolte who won the second class. The Low Junior Jumpers

finished the early schedule with Keegan Rawls winning with her mount Habanera over Madison Wedderspoon and

Contango.

12 entries competed against the Lewis Pack course during the afternoon’s $5,000 Welcome Stake. Pizza and

Beverages were provided as refreshment for exhibitors during the class in the viewing tents. Full results are below:

HUNTER RING 2

Hunter Breeding classes led the schedule with Gaze at Me, owned by Michelle Guardino-Dettelbach, handled by

Brandon Gibson winning the yearling class and Brandon handled the winning two year old Chase Meadow Farms’ Apua

Point. Gaze at Me took the Best Young Horse and Apua Point was Reserve. Apua Point received our first Circuit

Championship award for accumulating the most points over the entire Aiken Challenge Series!

The Young Hunters jumped first in the second Hunter Ring

and Walk the Line’s Requested with Jared Depermentier won

both rounds over Trevor Hawthorne’s Prediction with Andrea

Huber who won the under saddle and Requested finished

with the Champion award over Prediction who was Reserve.

Prediction with Andrea Huber won the first round and under

saddle class in Baby Green Hunter over Jean Bickley’s

Ballerino with Susan Sisco who won the second round.

Prediction was the Baby Green Champion and Ballerino was

Reserve. The Aiken County Hunters first round and under

saddle was won by Raytango with owner Rebecca Young, and

the second round blue went to Tracey Miller’s Southern Star with Megan. Raytango was the Champion and the

Reserve award went to Tracey Miller’s Southern Star. Deborah Day’s Canamabee with Cathy Geitner won both rounds

in the Thoroughbred Hunters over Janet Peterson’s Restless honor who took second in both rounds. Janet Peterson’s

Imperial Rest and Cathy Geitner won the under saddle class. Canamabee was Champion and Imperial Rest was

Reserve Champion.

Our combined 17 & Under Age Group Equitation offered a flat and two over fences today, with Erica Felder coming

out on top in the flat. Celia Cram won the first equitation round and Madison Orr took top call in the second round

and the two ended up with the Champion and Reserve Champion calls. Schooling Pony Hunters ended the day in

Hunter 2 with blues going to Jessie Spade’s Sunrise and Kylee Buchholz who won the first round and Royalty with

owner Helen Lohr who won the second round and under saddle.
