Description: Otgontenger Mountain, the highest peak (4031m) of the Khangain Mountain range is situated in Zavkhan Province in western part of Mongolia Historically this mountain was initially protected in 1818. The area represents the natural complexity of the Khangai mountain range and is a home to rare and very rare wildlife and bio-diversity. We can ascend from front of the mountain. There are Badarkhundaga Lake, Frog rock and Ovoo or known as sacred stones.

Itinerary Day 1 We knowing tour ruler.Arrival at Otgontenger hotel and meet our guide and driver. Transfer to hotel and check in for relax. Lunch and afternoon short country tour: visit Otgontenger camp badarkhundaga lake history.Day 2 Transfer to the car for drive to Otgontenger mountain 14:00. Meet with our driver and drive to Otgontenger mountain visit Otgontenger camp.Day 3 Drive to Otgontenger over by Gants Pass. ( hundred eighty km driving for 6-7 hours) on the way, you can see deer stone. Arrive in Frog Rock and set up base camp. Overnight at tent.

Day 4 Trek to the mountain see picture of Khangai Range. Otgontenger, the highest peak of the Khangai Mountain Range. In the evening prepare for the climbing. Overnight at tent. Day 5 Ascend to Otgontenger. Arrive in Badarkhundaga Lake. Badarhundaga spectacular lake is located in front of the mountain Otgontenger, little bit lower location from snow caped peak. The lake is 300-400 m long wide. Overnight camp-1Day 6 Climb to the snow peak high 4031 m above see level. Return to base camp. Overnight at tent. Day 7 Reserve day for climb and relax. Visit nomad family and you can see nomadic lifestyle and daily activity. Overnight at tent.

 

Day 8 Early morning drive to the Uliastai town and sightseeing: Visit Javkhlant hill, white stupa of 9 Saint. Overnight at local hotel.

Day 9 Visit local have lunch at local restaurant. Check in hotel and overnight

Day 10 Short horse riding. Return to Zavkhan and arrive. We have lunch. Sightseeing. In the evening you can see Mongolian traditional folklore concert. Overnight at hotel.

Day 11 Check out hotel and transfer to car for departure. End of the tour.

 

Day 12 Early Telmen Nuur Lake to Bust Nuur Lake.Travel across/xundlun/ green hills and the plateau/undur gazar/ of north Mongolia dotted/tseg/ with numerous/olon/ small lakes. Stop half way and enjoy a picnic/xuduu xeer/ near Bust Nuur Lake, a beautiful lake. Overnight at tent and car . Day 13 Telmen Nuur to seven hump sand./долоон товгор элс/ Enjoy lunch in Khag Nuur .later visit the spectacular sight of Seven hump sand . Here you can see fresh water springs flowing out of the bottom of huge sand dunes. Overnight in tent and car.

Otgontenger mountain is protected in 18 century to protect the historical sights and ecological integrity in this region. At that time it is protected to cutting trees, hunting, digging the ground in this mountainous area and local people worshipped the mountain 4 times in a year. Here it is very exciting place when to see summer in the foot of mountain and but winter in the top of it. There is +55 degrees hot spa resort in the foot of the mountain.

Pilgrimage Guide to OtgontengerThis project site is located at the remote sacred

Mount Otgontenger in Zavkhan Province, Mongolia. Mount Otgontenger is the original home to Pehar, one of the principal protectors in Buddhism, and for the Dalai Lamas. Nekorpa will publish in Mongolian and English a pilgrimage guidebook for the circumambulation route around Mount Otgontenger, including the shamanistic and pre-Buddhist folklore.

Badarhundaga spectacular lake is located in front of the mountain

Otgontenger, little bit lower location from snow caped peak. The lake is 300-400 m long wide and pristine

drink water lake. The lake water drops down in cracks of rocks and running

to the valley.

It is possible to drive to the ovoo by drive. From here a horse trail continues on another 1.5 miles to Badarkhundaga Nuur, a glacial lake nestled in a cirque just below the south face of Otgon Tenger.

Javkhlant HillThis hilltop near the river and just to the north of the main street features a pavilion, nine stupas and the concrete likenesses of an elk, and argal sheep. The views from the top are good. To the northeast, about 3km away, you can barely make out the remains of the old Manchu military garrison . It is possible to walk to the garrison in about 30 minutes, though there's not much to see and it is generally regarded by locals as a waste dump.

Telmen Nuur This beautiful salt lake is accessible from the town of Telmen, 20km south-east of the lake, on the main Uliastai-Tosontsengel road, or by heading west 25km from the main Moron/Uliastai crossroads. There is good camping on the east end the lake.Telmen Lake is a beautiful lake which hosts abundant birdlife. The lake lies near the boundary between the forest-steppe. You will find different kinds of landscape around the lake such as sand dunes, beautiful mountains, green forest and several rivers and other lakes.Lake Telmen, a closed lake basin, is slightly salty (about 4g per liter salinity).
