Introduction and executive summary 1This deliverable presents the initial RETHINK big flyer and briefly describes the process for creating said flyer.

Motivation 2The WP2 Dissemination Team created the flyer within the first few weeks of the project start primarily to explain the project to attendees of the European Data Forum 2014 or EDF2014 (with more than 400 registered attendees) at which they had a stand. The overall purpose was to find potential Big Data software and analytics experts to contribute to the project working groups. The flyer provides an overview of the objectives of the project and the partners involved; it also requests the participation of individuals external to the project by joining us via social media: LinkedIn and Twitter.

Availability 3The flyer is available for download as a part of the Press Kit at the following link on the public website: http://www.rethinkbig-project.eu/press/dissemination-materials.

Conclusion 5The WP2 Dissemination Team printed 450 hard copies of the flyer, more than half of which were distributed at the EDF2014. The remaining flyers will also be handed out

at events until the publication (and printing) of the first project newsletter foreseen at the end of the first trimester. The consortium has chosen to print hard copies of the flyer and newsletter for distribution in conferences based on prior dissemination experience that suggested that participants are often able to dedicate their full attention to a new idea more easily than they are to an email within the normal working day setting.
