Jobs requiring an associate degree or higher

are expected to grow at a faster rate than those requiring

less than a degree.

Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics

“Our communities are going to thrive (with the help of the

Promise Program). We’re going to attract good jobs, we’re going to attract businesses. I appreciate the collective commitment to what

this is going to do to strengthen the entire region. It’s a really

big deal long term.”

—Arne Duncan former U.S. Secretary of Education

During their Freshman year of high school 34,357 students

have made the initial commitmentto their Promise Scholarship.

Source: Harper Promise data as of January 2021

A SCHOLARSHIP OFFERED TO EVERY ELIGIBLE PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT IN THE HARPER COLLEGE DISTRICT THAT WOULD FUND UP TO TWO YEARS OF COLLEGE.

What if we could promise every public high school student in the

northwest suburbs an associate degree tuition free if they’re

willing to earn it? Think of the possibilities for students, parents

and our local workforce. An associate degree. Tuition free.

Under the Harper College Promise Scholarship Program every

eligible incoming public high school student in Harper’s district

can earn an associate degree* at Harper College if they maintain

solid grades, have good attendance, don’t repeat classes,

graduate on time and provide service to their community.

*Students can earn up to 60 credits of tuition inclusive of dual credit, AP credit and other prior credits earned. As of 2021, more than $2.1 million in scholarship tuition has been administered to Promise students.

The criteria for the Harper College Promise Scholarship were developed by Harper College, area public high schools and northwest suburban business leaders to promote life skills and habits that will help students succeed in college and provide businesses with smart, skilled and motivated employees. The Promise Scholarship Program enables participating students to attend Harper without having to pay tuition† while they earn career certifications and associate degrees. However, signing up for the Promise program does not commit a student to go to Harper. So there’s no reason not to sign up!

Lunch Information

Meal Assistance (Formerly Free & Reduced Lunch Program)

We will be using the Meal Benefits Program application on the parent portal of Infinite Campus. These benefits DO NOT “roll over” from your elementary school and need to be applied for each school year. The form will be available in early August. Once approved, a letter will be sent home. Cafeteria staff can help navigate which lines to use, as not all food in the cafeteria is covered on the meal assistance plan. For Questions about the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, please contact the EGHS Technology Helpdesk at 847-718-4444.

Lunch Money Money can be deposited online into your student’s account. Visit the EGHS website under Parent Resources: Food and Nutrition Services: Online Food Service Pre-pay. There are also hard copies of this form in the school cafeteria, and you can attach a check. Money will then be placed on your child’s ID Card. Menus Lunch menus can be found on the District 214 website: https://www.d214.org/ Click on Departments, then Food And Nutrition Services. Lost ID Cards ID cards are required to enter the school, get onto the bus, used as a library card, and in the cafeteria. There is a fee for lost ID cards. Students can obtain cards in the attendance office. .
