Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am most pleased to be able to address you on the occasion of the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation Summit in Beijing.The Belt and Road Initiative announced in 2013 by His Excellen-cy Xi Jinping, President People´s Republic of China, has become the basis of one of the greatest global projects of modern his-tory. The Czech Republic was among one of the first countries to join the initiative. I am extremely pleased that since the offi-cial signing of the memorandum with the People´s Republic of China in 2015 bilateral cooperation in the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative has assumed the form of specific joint projects some of which have already been successfully accomplished. In 2017 I had the honour to participate in the first instalment of this international meeting and it is a great pleasure for me to be able to represent the Czech Republic this year again in Beijing. Together with other leading state and government representa-tives we will review our cooperation in the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and will discuss its future.I view our participation in this Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation as another step towards the promo-tion of mutual relations between the Czech Republic and the People´s Republic of China. The considerable number of Czech businessmen comprised in the delegation is clear evidence of the significant interest of Czech firms in cooperation with their Chinese partners; I am therefore firmly persuaded that the trend towards the opening up of the Chinese market to foreign actors will continue and that Czech firms will continue pursuing their interests here, and, mutual economic cooperation will of course also be the subject of the eighth meeting with His Excellency Xi Jinping, President People´s Republic of China.Ladies and gentlemen, I wish you every success in establishing new contacts in the People´s Republic of China that will lead to further joint Czech-Chinese projects, whether in the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative or some other undertaking. I wish all your forthcoming discussions the best of success.

Dear friends,

It is a pleasure for me to address you on behalf of the Czech Chamber of Commerce entrusted with the organisation of the trade mission, which accompanies the President of the Czech Re-public, H.E. Mr. Miloš Zeman, on his visit to the People´s Republic of China. The mission accompanying President Zeman comprises representatives of Czech firms which are no newcomers to the Chinese market, but are firms which already have important pro-jects in the pipeline here, are tendering for contracts and/or are planning to sign cooperation agreements during their visit.Czech firms are aware of the fact that China is the Czech Repub-lic´s third largest trade partner. The import of Chinese products into the Czech Republic, however, largely exceeds its exports. Czech firms, whose products and technologies are of a very high standard, would like to increase their presence in the Chinese market. This concerns especially IT and computing, the automo-bile and aviation industries, mining equipment, power engineer-ing, medical equipment, water management and other sectors. A favourable development is that cooperation in science and research has been gaining in importance in recent years. Thanks to the Czech Republic´s industrial tradition and the technologi-cal inventiveness of its people Czech firms are among the most renowned in the world and can offer globally competitive products and services. Czech firms could also have the opportunity to participate in the dialogue to be pursued in the framework of the Belt and Road initiative. This project is very ambitious as its emphasis is on strengthening economic links between China and the other countries.I am firmly convinced that this mission will contribute to the further promotion of bilateral trade cooperation between the Czech Republic and the People´s Republic of China. The firms participating in the mission are among the best and I am pleased that the Czech Chamber of Commerce can help support the al-ready existing projects and assist in seeking out new ones.

Sawmill - In 2018, we processed 150 000 m3 of wood. We produce con-struction lumber, lumber for furniture, doors and windows and packaging materials.
