Policy and Information Philosophy: USAG Bamberg Child, Youth & School Services recognizes the challenges of our Sol-

diers and their Families. By offering quality programs for children, youth and students, CYS Services

supports the Army Family Covenant by reducing the conflict between mission readiness and paren-

tal responsibility. Child, Youth and School Services are an integral part of the Army mission. CYS

Services support the Soldier which in turn enhances Army readiness.

Behavior: CYS Services believes in positive and effective Guidance and Discipline techniques. CYS

Services incorporates our Touch Policy, Guidance and Discipline policy to ensure all children ,

youth, and staff are safe and treated respectfully. Discipline will be positive in nature, including

such methods as redirection, separation of a child from situations, and praise for appropriate be-

havior. All summer staff will have training in the use of positive discipline. If children are caught

doing something that is of danger to themselves or others, their parents will be called and the child

will have to be picked up immediately. If discipline problems persist, a parent conference will be

scheduled and necessary action will be determined at that time.

Food and Medication: CYS Services understands and appreciates the need for a healthy diet

among all of our members. The Child Development Center and School Age Services programs are

under the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Child Adult Food Program. Under USDA

guidelines, your child will be provided with a breakfast, lunch, and snack during camp hours. The

USDA guidelines state no outside food is allowed into a USDA food program.

The Middle and Teen program offer an a la carte snack selection that offers healthy choices for

youth.

The CYSS program staff will administer medication in accordance with Army AER 608-10 The facil-

ity director will review the medication policy on a case by case basis. Parents are required to pro-

vide 608-10-1D Exception to Policy to Administer medication paperwork and to provide Emergency

Rescue Medication to the program and complete required signature card. . Parents are responsible

to provide sunscreen for their children’s outdoor activities and complete the Basic Care form. Par-

ents must also notify CYS Services of any changes in Behavior, Health or Medical Condition.

Additional Cost: On occasion, additional costs may be incurred by parents for special outings, to

include but not limited to field trips, snacks, and spending money.

4

5

Personal Property and Belongings: All personal belongings brought to the program by a youth is

the responsibility of that youth/family. The CYSS is NOT responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen

items. Please discourage your child from bringing anything to the program that is not completely

necessary, especially money. Necessary items, such as cell phones, sunscreen, backpacks, and

jackets should be clearly marked with the child’s name.

Accidents: The CYSS programs strive to maintain a safe and secure environment. There is an as-

sumed risk in many of our core activities; including, but not limited to sports. Please feel safe in

knowing that our trained staffs are attentive to providing the safest environment possible. The

completed membership application authorizes the program staff to seek medical treatment for a

member, if necessary, and that any associated costs for such care are the responsibility of the par-

ent or guardian. The CYSS does NOT provide medical insurance for members. In the event of a seri-

ous injury, the staff will call 112 immediately and then call the parent/guardian or alternative

emergency contact. This is one more reason why updated contact information is your responsibility

and crucial to your child’s well-being.

(PLEASE ENSURE ALL CONTACT NUMBERS ARE ACCURATE.)

Fees and Billing: Families enrolled in the Part Day preschool camp, Strong Beginnings camp, SAC

camp, or Middle School Before camp will be charged weekly fees. Billing for these programs will

be run the Wednesday prior to each camp week. This billing cycle will allow parents to pay for their

camp weeks the Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday before the actual camp runs. If a camp has not

been paid for by the 1st day of the camp week then services will be denied. Payments can be

made at any CYSS facility or on Webtrac.

Cancellation Policy: If a child will not be attending a week of the summer program, a cancellation

notice will be required before 1700 on the Tuesday before that camp week.

Transportation: Transportation will not be provided to and from DODDS Summer School activities ,

Vacation Bible School, or between CYS Services activities. Parent may sign a written consent form

authorizing their child to walk to and from these activities. Per the Garrison supervision policy chil-

dren Kindergarten age and younger may not walk unsupervised from activities.

Dress Code: Flip Flops or sandals that may easily come off a child’s foot and cause a safety hazard

will not be permitted. Children are encouraged to dress appropriately for a variety of active activi-

ties. Swimwear, towels, change of clothes is also requested do to variety of water activities.
