Sexist Advertisements: Before and After WWII
CYCLE 1 PLAN PRESENTATION
ESSENTIAL QUESTION & FOCUS STATEMENT
Essential Question: How did the representation of women in advertising evolve from Pre-World War II to 1964 America?
Focus Statement: I chose to do this project because I enjoy photography and due to my personal opinions regarding my gender.
THE PLANWhat/How I will accomplish my
project
• 5 Photographs – Photographs will be uploaded of my progress to my drop box.• 500 Word Blog – A 500 word blog on a topic of my choosing will be uploaded
every Friday up until the cycle 2 plan.• Audio Blog – Audio blogs will be uploaded on the same day as my blogs of
interviews, thoughts, etc.• Vlog – Vlogs will be uploaded every Monday up until the cycle 2 plan on the
progress of my Action Research Project so far.• Points on Table – The points I will add to my table are facts I find through
research that are part of either the before WWII or after WWII section. They will go onto a blank document I will create that will contain all of the research that shows contrast from before and after WWII that I will then show in my photographs.
• Pick out 7 Advertisements – I will research many different sexist advertisements that fit my essential question and choose a final 7 for my project.
• Complete Sketches – The 14 sketches will be made of possible recreations of the advertisements that I find and will show the facts from the Before/After WWII and will allow me to create rough draft photographs.
• Rough Draft Paragraphs – I will complete 7 rough draft paragraphs that go along with my final rough draft photographs that explain what the recreation photograph is attempting to convey and will explain the research and history used to create the photograph
• Rough Draft Photographs – I will complete 7 final “rough draft” photographs based on the before/after table and the 14 sketches I have drawn.
