Print will be in-depth, detailed coverage with fact-checked accuracy.Time - for print we have more time to go in-depth but the stories are not as newsy (immediate) and for online we have the latest news/happenings at the school but less in-depth features.

Online is drastically shorter then print. Video, sound slides, and photo galleries are very popular.Online content can be updated more frequently because our print edition only publishes monthly.Online is more where up to date news goes because by the time the news magazine comes out, most of that would be too dated.

Online should, ideally, extend from print and be something that can be updated frequently. Right now, though, we are busy keeping our print product going while also developing a Web site.We can include more than one picture with each story if we choose and our online version is in full color.


Depth and timeliness. The web reports more timely stories using the inverted pyramid style of writing. The print edition goes into more depth in a story. The web also allows the coverage to incorporate more multimedia coverage, i.e. video, SoundSlides, audio, etc.

The online paper offers audio and video content, and multiple photos to go with stories that in the print issue will have story/one photo. Blogging is a big difference, and having content exclusive to the online paper.

Our print edition is not available to all of our students. They must pay a $10 subscription fee to get a copy, and only a third of our students do this. So the Web site allows more students to read our paper.

Print has a more local focus- students, parents, community. We are traditional, serious archivists of the goings on at our school. Online is more playful and casual. We have had photo slideshows of tatoos, shoes, hair, etc. It is mostly features geared towards teens.

The most important difference is the timely, 24-7 nature of the online media. It can be a blessing when a high school paper only prints every 3 weeks, but it can also be difficult because of its avarice need for new updates. Nothing kills a web viewers need to navigate your site than outdated material.
