The internet and mobile phones can be a lot of fun and a great way of staying in touch with your friends as well being a really important tool for school work.

It is important to remember that you need to stay smart to stay safe online!

1. Never give out personal details about yourself such as:• full name, date of birth or age• where you live• where you go to school• contact details including email addresses• user names and passwords.

2. Never give out any private information over the internet or through mobile phonesabout your family, friends or other people that you know.

3. Use a strong password that contains a combination of upper and lower case letters, symbols and numbers.

4. Think before you send! You have to think about what you are saying and how this will make the other person feel.

5. Don’t hide behind a computer screen, if you wouldn’t say it to their face, don’t sayit at all!

6, Ask yourself before posting any photos: “would I be okay with my Grandma seeing this?” If the answer is no, forget it!
