25% of girls reported being cyber bullied in the past two months. (Whitaker)
11% of boys reported being cyber bullied in the past two months. (Whitaker)

Sad
Lack of interest in social activities
Avoids school

6. Bullying in grades k-12
Cyber Bullying begins in elementary school and occurs in all grades
Children experiencing cyber bullying may also experience traditional bullying in school
7. How Bullying Impacts K-12 learning
Students who are being bullied will be distracted at school and may even avoid school all together
This will limit there learning
8. Gender Differences in Cyber Bullying
Girls tend to make fun of others based on their physical appearance
Boys tend to make more sexually explicit comments

10. Steps to Limit Cyber Bullying
The first step in trying to stop cyber bullying is to know how prevalent it is in your school
Educate students on cyber bullying
Updating policies that prohibit harassment through the use of technology

Educate parents on cyber bullying
Create a school atmosphere that allows students to feel comfortable reporting any cyber bullying
12. Michigans Policy on Bullying
Educate and train teachers
Anti- bullying
The state of Michigan has laws against Hazing and Sexual harassment but no current laws against cyber bullying (www.olweus.org)
13. Future Laws Preventing Cyber Bullying
As of now it is up to the schools to deal with the issue of cyber bullying.
There are no laws prohibiting cyber bullying but school are taking action by changing their school policies
Hopefully their will be laws in the future to prevent children from having to deal cyber bullying
14. Conclusion
Cyber bullying is a growing problem in schools today
It is up to teachers to know the signs of cyber bullying and ways to prevent it
