The polls will be open from 6AM to 8PM at Souhegan High School. Absentee ballots are available to registered voters of the town. NH law requires that you vote in person at the polls unless you declare one of the following absences: 1) You plan to be absent on election day from the town where you are domiciled. 2) You cannot appear in public because of obser- vance of a religious commitment. 3) You are unable to vote due to a disability. 4) You cannot appear at any time during polling hours at the polling place because an employment obligation requires you to remain physically at work or to be in transit to or from work from the time the polls open until the time the polls close. Any person who votes or attempts to vote using an absentee ballot who is not entitled to vote by ab- sentee ballot shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. RSA 657:24 Absentee ballots may be requested in person at the town clerk’s office from 9AM to 3PM, Mon- day through Friday and Tuesday night from 4:30 to 6:30 and up to 5PM on Monday, March 10. They must be returned by 5PM on Monday, March 10th if returned in person or by 5PM on Election Day if re- ceived by mail. No absentee ballots will be accept- ed in hand at the polls. Preston surprised his high school with an im- promptu gig on Tuesday af- ternoon, singing some orig- inal work and answering questions from students and teachers. Alex replied, “Two years ago, I was a band geek—all forms of band, marching band, jazz band. I did it all. If you knew me as a student, you would know that I am super awkward.” Alex has written hun- dreds of songs, one or two while grocery shopping. “I sing into my phone in the milk aisle,” he said, adding, “I don’t talk much about my feelings, but my songwriting allows me to do that.” His Senior Project, a graduation requirement at Souhegan, was to create a press kit for his band. His mentor was Carl Benevides, the band teacher to whom Alex cred- its a lot of his success. e audience laughed when Community Service director Maggie Paul asked Alex if Harry Connick Jr. was as terrific as she knew him to be. Alex said that as the competition’s numbers were reduced, he did have the chance to get to know the judges a bit more. “He is pretty cool, and all the female contestants adore Colby College Chamber Choir to Perform at Amherst Congo Church AMHERST - On Friday, March 21 at 7:00 PM, Dr. Nicolás A. Dosman of Colby College, Waterville, Maine, will present the Chamber Choir of the Colby College Chorale in a free concert performance in the sanc- tuary of the historic Meet- inghouse of the Congrega- tional Church, UCC, at 11 Church Street, Amherst, New Hampshire, on the Amherst Town Common. e Colby College Cham- ber Choir is made up of a dozen highly select, au- ditioned members of the Chorale, and rehearses and performs during the school year both with the Chorale and separately. eir pro- gram will include sacred pieces (including Ave Maria and De profundis), spiritu- als (Elijah Rock and Goin’ Home), and folk music from around the world. e performance, which is free and open to the pub- lic, is the first event of the Chamber Choir’s Spring Break mini-tour, and will be followed by a reception in the Vestry of the church. Pair- ing books and music, this performance is part of the Library’s March series, Cel- ebrating the Book and All Its Lives. Canzonare will play Jane Austen’s music favorites: Lieder of Bee- thoven and Haydn, En- glish and “exotic” songs, and instrumental music by Nicholson, Geminiani, and Munro. Members include Sarah Bellott (soprano); Kateri Chambers (historical flutes); and, Dylan Sauer- wald (historical keyboards). Canzonare “teases” the musical palate with lit- tle-known offerings from the historical performance repertoire. e Boston based ensemble performs works of high composi- tional quality in programs that highlight the many textures, nationalities, and time periods within the ear- ly music compass. eir programs have been lauded for their “taste and ingenu- ity,” their playing as “seam- less” and “interplay…hard to resist” (American Re- corder and Boston Musical Intelligencer).
