A Message from the Pastor:
My Friends in the Lord Jesus,
Pentecost Sunday! It has been fifty days since Easter Sunday, and for that many days we have celebrated in particular fashion the Paschal Mystery - the death, resurrection, and ascension of the Lord, and the descent of the Holy Spirit. Today, with this Solemnity of Pentecost, we draw to a close our celebration of Easter.
However, in today’s gospel passage from the Gospel according to John, we are invited back to Easter Sunday. Easter is united to Pentecost because throughout the fifty days of the Easter season, we celebrated the Holy Spirit and the life of the first disciples in the early Church. It was through the Holy Spirit that Church began to spread the good news of the saving act of God in the Paschal event of the Lord Jesus Christ. “On the evening of the first day of the week, even though the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear…Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, Peace be with you…He showed them his hands and his side…As the Father has sent me, so I send you.’ And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit.”
Pentecost is a celebration of our being commissioned by the risen Lord too. We are commissioned to continue the spread of the gospel. The Holy Spirit empowers us to witness to what we have celebrated over these past fifty days: the saving, forgiving, reconciling and compassionate love of God for all people. We are witnesses of this truth. As witnesses we give our best testimony, not so much by our words, but by our actions. That is, we are to bring to others forgiveness, reconciliation, and compassion. We are ambassadors for God, disciples of Jesus, doing divine, grace filled work of forgiveness and mercy. Jesus said, “As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”
The Easter Season may end today, but our work for the Gospel, our ministry in the name of Christ Jesus, continues. We do so, not alone or by our own efforts, but by the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit, “Jesus breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” So, we continue to promote peace as we work for Justice, we strive to unite and end divisions, we pray for an end to war, violence, prejudice and discrimination. We uphold and proclaim the dignity of all life, the sanctity of marriage, and encourage faith and hope in God.
So we pray to the Holy Spirit, “O most blessed Light divine, shine within these hearts of yours, and our inmost being fill…Heal our wounds, our strength renew; on our dryness pour your dew; wash the stains of guilt away: bend the stubborn heart and will; melt the frozen, warm the chill; guide the steps that go astray. On the faithful, who adore and confess you, evermore in your sevenfold gift descend; give them virtue’s sure reward; give them salvation, Lord; give them joys that never end. Amen. Alleluia.
Happy and joyful Pentecost!
Fr. Ron

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Solemnity of Pentecost
“To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” (1 Corinthians 12:7)
To receive the gift of the Holy Spirit you must open your heart and invite Him in! Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts, words, and actions every day! Be grateful for all the gifts God has given you! Regardless of our individual circumstances, God has given all of us many blessings. What we do with those gifts is our gift back to God! By generous-ly sharing everything we have and everything we are, we become more “God-centered” and less “self-centered” and our lives truly reflect God’s light, love, and mercy.
Remember Online Giving
We are so grateful to continue receiving weekly offering gifts. Please remember that envelopes may be sent by mail to the parish office, or you may easily give online at: stb-parish.org/stewardship. You can set up an automatic recurring gift and specify when and how often you’d like to donate online. Please consider using these beneficial options during this trying time while Masses are suspended, as it will greatly help continue the mission and work of the parish.

Preparing ourselves for the great
Solemnity of Pentecost, open your heart to the graces of the Holy Spirit.
Come, Holy Spirit Come Holy Spirit, and fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of Your Divine Love. Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created, and You shall renew the face of the earth. Oh God, Who by the light of the Holy Spirit instructed the hearts of the faithful, Grant, that by the same Spirit we may be truly wise and ever rejoice in His consolation. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
St. Augustine’s Prayer to the Holy Spirit Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy. Act in me, O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy. Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy. Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy. Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy. Amen.
Children’s Prayer to Holy Spirit
Come Holy Spirit… bring me today… love, joy and peace… in all that I say. Come Holy Spirit… help me be like you… showing kindness and goodness in all that I do. Come Holy Spirit Please Bless my Family and Friends… In all that we do! And bless the many people… that might not know and love you. Amen
Spreading the Word of God Lord, you have enriched me with the strength of your word. You have opened my mind and heart to see the wonders you have created. You have blessed me with the gift of communication to share your divine message. Holy Spirit, help me to understand the power of these gifts, and teach me to use them wisely. Bless all who use their talents to communicate the Gospel. This I ask through Jesus Christ, Our Lord Amen
