After the success of our psychic Evening with Liza &Carole we are holding 2 more dates - one on Thursday the8th of August at The Woodthorpe Inn, Old Tupton andThursday the 19th of September at the Batemans MillHotel.

Tickets are £12.00 each and include a pie & pea supper.Tickets are on sale now, and sold out quickly last time sohurry & grab them from The Pub, Hotel or Posh Coffee,Clay Cross.

On Saturday August 31st at The Batemans Mill Hotel,from 2pm–4pm we are holding a Town Centre Group socialevent, open to group members as well as the generalpublic. If you are thinking of joining the group or just wouldlike to see what work we do for your community, our futureprojects & what local businesses & sole traders have tooffer on your doorstep then please join us.

Welcome drinks and nibbles are provided and afternoontea, snacks and drinks will be available to purchase duringthe event a great opportunity to liaise with the people whomake up our fantastic local community business network inClay Cross and the surrounding villages. We hope to seeyou all there.

Well that’s not the case in our area, as the past few yearshave seen some great locals being refurbed, and it’s thanksto the love of our hubs of the community - it’s you guys thatkeep them going!

Rather than a boarded up building being bulldozed down,or a pub being turned into a supermarket, we have - toname just a few - some great places to eat, drink and bemerry:

Group members Charlie’s Bar in Clay Cross (formerly TheCannon) was boarded up for some years - see our featuredbusiness page.

Posh Coffee has its newly refurbed outdoor garden areafor lunch and drinks alfresco.

The recently refurbed throughout, 7 years runningWoodthorpe Inn, Old Tupton, is a great family local pub.

The Batemans Mill is a Trip Advisor certificate ofexcellence winner, for both restaurant and hotel.

Other great new local refurbed venues are the Real AlePub & Micro Brewery; The Rykneld Turnpyke, formerly TheEgstow Club and The New Inn at Old Tupton, which iscurrently thriving after a recent revamp.

Clay Cross’ Gurkha Restaurant and Snooker Centre arecurrently in the top ten out of 160 restaurants inChesterfield. Work starts soon on re-opening The ThreeHorse Shoes, Clay Cross, as a bar & eatery.

NOW under new management this local family pub and restaurant with afriendly atmosphere has a lot to offer whether you want to call in for a drinkand a chat and maybe something to eat from the snack bar or come andsample some of the popular live entertainment which is put on everySaturday night.

STEVE Hardman from Wingerworthrecently launched The HR DeptChesterfield to help businessesacross Chesterfield and North EastDerbyshire, including Clay Cross andsurrounding areas.

Steve brings with him more than 25years’ experience in HR and has heldpositions at senior levels across arange of business sectors including UKand world-leading companies, as wellas with small local businesses.

He says, “I’m an uncomplicated sort, and that’s the kind of service I lookto provide. I relish the challenge of solving employment problems inpragmatic and practical ways that also meet the unique culture andbusiness needs of each client.
