Sometimes your biggest challenge inconstruction is finding enough roomto work — or acquiring machines towork in the restricted spaces socommonly found on jobsites.

Either way, Case delivers the idealsolution with its line of compactexcavators. With a full range of digdepths, buckets and attachmentoptions, Case CX B Series compactexcavators have one thing incommon — the ability to travel andwork within tight, restricted areas.

The key to these excavators is asmall footprint and zero tail swing. They turn 360 degrees with no part

of the upper structure extendingbeyond the tracks. These machinesare as easy to trailer as a skid steer, yet have big excavator features.

Plus, you can count on CX B Seriescompact excavators to deliver all thepower and performance you need. With increased engine horsepower, hydraulic pressure and hydraulicflow, the CX17B, CX27B, CX31B,CX36B and CX50B provide morepower and speed for better cycletimes than ever before, getting youthrough the toughest jobs — quickly.

That’s the definition of compact —and performance.

Imagine working tight to a foundationor fence line and not worrying abouthaving enough room to turn or maneuver. With zero tail swing, Case compactexcavators rotate within the width of

their own tracks. Even in tightquarters, they dig, turn and unloadwith great efficiency.

While outstanding maneuverabilityis key to impressive cycle times, power and speed also enter intothe equation. The B Series modelsoffer improved power and speed, delivering faster cycle times thanever before. The B Series machinesboast an average of 19 percenthigher engine horsepower thanprevious models.

These models also feature morehydraulic flow than before, increasedhydraulic horsepower, and an11 percent increase in arm diggingforce. These improvements result insignificantly faster cycle times whichmeans you can move more materialper hour for faster job completion.

Ultimate maneuverability, power and performance

TOTAL PRODUCTION MACHINES

Center-swing boomdelivers precision

Accurately digging alongside a build-ing or around fixed objects can posebig challenges, but not for Case CXB Series Compact Excavators. Theunique design of the center-swingboom allows the operator to dig, oroperate attachments, directly parallelto building foundations, fences, treesor other obstacles.

On the CX27B and larger models, aconveniently-located swing-boomcontrol button on the left control

handle allows easy operation andflexibility to tackle any restricted jobsite. The swing tower is made fromheavy-duty cast steel for long daysof precision performance.

Combine this flexibility with improvedarm digging forces on the B Seriesmodels, outstanding lift capacities, and superior balance, and you havebig excavator performance with acompact footprint.

CX17B hasretractable tracks

Need to move through a narrowopening with your excavator?

It’s no problem for the Case CX17B,with hydraulic retractable tracks.Retract the tracks, move through thenarrow opening, then expand themfor digging power and stability.

With low ground pressure of only3.9 psi (27.5 kPa) and bucketdigging force of 3,417 pounds(1550 kg), the CX17B is the ultimatecompact package.

Rubber tracksStandard, durable rubber tracks easily moveCX B Series Compact Excavators withoutdamaging asphalt, concrete sidewalks orother surfaces. The machines feature groundpressures from 3.1 to 4.5 psi (21 to 31 kPa)for minimal ground disturbance. Short-pitchrubber on the tracks delivers low travelvibration and low noise levels.

Two-speed travelAll CX B Series Compact Excavators areequipped with a two-speed drive functionto match speed and performance to jobsiteconditions. Two-speed travel is automaticon the CX31B, CX36B and CX50B, andmanual on the CX17B and CX27B.

Backfill bladeCX B Series Compact Excavators areequipped with a hydraulically-controlledbackfill blade for added machine stabilityand light dozing work. The blade makes theexcavators ideal machines for diggingtrenches and then backfilling.

Improved cycle timesThe B Series compact models reduce cycletimes for impressive productivity. Withhigher engine horsepower, more hydraulicflow, greater hydraulic horsepower andimproved arm digging force, B Seriescompact excavators tear through thetoughest jobs with ease.

Center-swing boomFor precise digging or attachment operation, the center-swing boom can operate directlyalongside buildings or other objects.Engaged by a convenient switch locatedon the joystick, the center-swing featureswings the boom up to 80 degrees leftand 65 degrees right.

Auxiliary hydraulicsAuxiliary hydraulics and plumbing to the armprovide power for a range of attachments, such as hammers, augers and thumbs.

Select control patternA standard feature control pattern selectorvalve lets the operators choose the preferredoperating pattern to match their skill set, without interruptions to production.

Zero tail swingA smart, compact design lets Case compactexcavators fully rotate within the width oftheir tracks. With the advantage of zero tailswing, operators concentrate on the work athand instead of obstacles behind.

Easy to operateA superior hydrostatic drive system and pilot-operated joystick controls make CX B SeriesCompact Excavators easy to operate. Operatorswill find the controls smooth and intuitive forresponsive performance and low fatigue.

Ease of service is critical to Case forall products because we realize ithelps you maximize your profitability.Case CX B Series compact excavatorsfeature swing-out access panels andground line fuel, coolant and hydraulicfluid fills. For added protection, the fuelcap and all access panels are lockable.

Heavy-duty travel motors provideexcellent speed and traction. Theseare efficient, two-speed axial-pistonmotors with planetary gear reduction.Heavy plate guards prevent damageto the hydraulic piping and com-ponents — added assurance thatCase CX Series compact excavatorsare built for dependable performance.

Compact CX B SeriesSUPERIOR MAINTENANCE AND PERFORMANCE

Ground-level fluid checks make daily maintenance quick and easy.

Easy maintenance.Maximum uptime.

A one-piece, swing-out side access panel gives access to cooling components, valves andthe operator control pattern change valve.

The engine access door allows easy access to the air filter, oil level check and fill, coolantoverflow and the fuel filter.

OPERATORENVIRONMENTComfort withcommanding views

New B Series models have a largeroperator platform — 20 percent largerthan on previous compact models! With more room to work, the operatorwill feel more comfortable and bemore productive.

The three-post ROPS design on theB Series models makes it easy to getin and out of the excavators, providinga 40 percent wider entry area. Plus, the three-post ROPS gives theoperator commanding views of theentire surrounding worksite.

For the ultimate in operating comfort,a heater and floor-to-ceiling glasscabs are available on all models.

One-touch engine deceleration isstandard on the CX27B through CX50Bmodels, allowing quick reduction inengine RPMs to conserve fuel andreduce exhaust. A display panelincludes readouts on engine oilpressure, water temperature, low-fuelwarning, hour meter and more.

Pilot-operated hand controls delivercomfortable, highly responsive opera-tion. A standard control-pattern selectorvalve lets the operator choose themost familiar pattern, excavator-styleor loader/backhoe-style controls. Anadjustable seat and standard arm restshelp keep the operator comfortable.

The cab front glass is six percent wider than on previous models for improved sight lines.A wide door frame offers easier entry and exit.
