preSident’S CornerFirst, I would like to thank Joe and Myrna Antonich for a most interesting presentation on their sailing trip from Argentina to Antarctica and South Africa, followed by a safari in Africa and a few days in London. If you weren’t there you missed a treat.

Board ElectionsThe board nominates the following for the open positions for next year:President elect: Secretary: Pat Jackson Retired Staff: Jean HawkinsActive faculty/administrator: Treasurer: Edna Madsen

Please see ballot included in this newsletter.

NewsletterIn the winter newsletter I said that, due to budget concerns,

the board had decided to send a hard copy only to those who requested it and an e-mail attachment to everyone else. The truth is that there are many of our members for whom we do not have e-mail addresses and very few requested hard copies. As a result we have partially reversed our earlier decision and will continue to mail hard copies to dues-paying members and e-mail attachments to all those for whom we have an address. Of course, it continues to be available on our Web site as well.

New PresidentIt has been a pleasure to serve as president this year. Please join me in welcoming and supporting our new president for 2009-2010, Carlos Martín.

Voting for the 2009-2010 officers will take place at the annual meeting. However, if you are not planning to attend the annual meeting May 13, now is the time for you to vote for the officers for the upcoming year. You may either return this ballot to: CWU Foundation, Central Washington University, 400 East University Way, Ellensburg, WA 98926-7508, or e-mail your vote to Rosco Tolman, [email protected]. Your vote must be received by May 10, 2008.

You may send your ballot in the same envelope with your membership dues if you choose.
