Great days out along the Cleveland Way

Have a secret picnic by a waterfall at Hayburn Wyke

8 Continue on this path until it joins a road at some houses.

9 Follow the road towards the bridge for the old railway line.

10 Turn left just before the bridge to climb up onto the old railway line known as the Cinder Track.

11 Turn right on the Cinder Track and follow this for 1½ kilometres back to Hayburn Wyke.

1 Facing the Hayburn Wyke Inn turn left along the track and through the gate.

2 Follow the path as it heads along the fi eld and then turns right and drops down to the woodland.

3 Go through the gate into the woodland and follow the main path leading all the way down to the shore. Here you can enjoy the pebble beach and the waterfall.

4 Turn back up the path and this time after 100 metres turn left onto the Cleveland Way. Follow the signed route as you climb up through the woods.

5 Keep left and climb out of the woods staying on the Cleveland Way.

6 Continue along the Cleveland Way coastal edge until you come to a bend and a fork in the path.

7 Take the right fork signed as a footpath leaving the Cleveland Way and coastal edge.

Hayburn Wyke is a secluded cove between Scarborough and Whitby. With the beach and woodland to discover, this hidden gem is the perfect setting for a picnic or a day of exploration.
