Personal Achievements

One of the proudest achievements of my time in school was taking part in an alcohol awareness course aimed at young people. I took part in training sessions about alcohol and presented these along with other pupils to approximately 180 year 7 pupils, we then went on to present our workshop to year 11s at Buile Hill High School. After that, our last opportunity was to visit a primary school and present it there and it was very successful. I learnt a lot of things during this project such as being fully prepared is always best, building up my confidence and also learning more about alcohol for myself. At the end of this, I received a certificate.

In year 10 I became a ‘Peer Mentor’ this involved helping a year 7 pupil with the transition from Primary school to Secondary School, I had to make sure they were doing okay and if they had any problems. From this I learnt that it’s always good to be talkative and confident towards other people and to present myself as an approachable and responsible person. When I entered into year 11 I was successful in applying for a position of ‘Lead Mentor’ I had to support a group of year 10s in their mentoring sessions to make sure they filled in the necessary sheets after meetings with their year 7 mentee. I interacted with new people I had never spoken to before and I really enjoyed having that feeling of responsibilities.
