Short Biography Dr. Dongbei YUE Associate Professor and Associate Dean School of Environment, Tsinghua University Dr. Dongbei YUE is an Associate Professor and the Associate Dean of the School of Environment at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, and the Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Solid Waste Management and Environment Safety (Tsinghua University), Ministry of Education of China. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and Doctoral Degree in Radiation and Environmental Protection both from Tsinghua University. Short BiographyDr. Dongbei YUE Associate Professor and Associate DeanSchool of Environment, Tsinghua University

Dr. Dongbei YUE is an Associate Professor and the Associate Dean of the School of Environment at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, and the Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Solid Waste Management and Environment Safety (Tsinghua University), Ministry of Education of China. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and Doctoral Degree in Radiation and Environmental Protection both from Tsinghua University. He has over 10 years of teaching, research and consulting experiences focused on two primary areas: solid waste landfilling and humification/stabilization of bio-mass waste, with specific interests including leachate treatment and recycling, landfill methane quantification, sustainable landfilling, organic waste humification and beneficial utilization of humic products. His research includes laboratory studies, field experiments, and full scale engineering demonstrations. He has developed an innovative 2-stage Submerged Combustion Evaporator, which has found an increasingly wide application in the leachate treatment field in China, providing currently the only practical solution for treatment of the final membrane concentrate. Dr. Yue authors over 70 peer-reviewed publications and presented at over 30 international conferences. He currently serves as Editorial Board Member of Mehran University Research Journal of Engineering & Technology. In addition, he has served as a reviewer for more than 20 journals and organizations. Dr. Yue has received several awards for excellence in research and teaching. His 2-stage Submerged Combustion Evaporator for landfill leachate treatment received Second Prize of State Technological Invention Award (2014, awarded by the State Council of China) and First Prize of Environmental Protection Science and Technology Award (2013, awarded by Ministry of Environmental Protection of China). He also won the Youth Science and Technology Award (2008) and the Outstanding Environmental Scientist Award (2014) of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences and Young Scholar of Distinction Award (2016) of Tsinghua University. He is four-time Teacher of the Year in School of Environment of Tsinghua University for his dedication to teaching and research (2008, 2012, 2013, and 2014).
