Academic Projects
Hardware Project – Jan’13 – Mar’13
Design and Fabrication of Stirling Engine VIT University
- Designed, built and tested water proof model of gamma configuration Stirling Engine. - The aim of choosing this design was to make the manufacturing cost of this engine low and
keep it simple.
Design Project – Jan’13 – Mar’13
Modeling and simulation of axial fan using CFD VIT University
- Used SOLIDWORKS to model axial fan and ANSYS CFX to analyse the flow through axial fan
and draw inference from the obtained results, so as to get maximum efficiency.
- The performance of an axial fan was simulated using CFD and the effect of variation of
different parameters such as the blade number, noise level, velocity, temperature and pressure
distribution on the blade surface was studied.
The abstract got accepted in in ASME Power & Energy 2015.
Automotive Aerodynamics – Jul’13 – Oct’13
CFD Analysis for Flow over Rear Spoiler for Traction Control using variable Angle of Attack
VIT University - Used ANSYS FLUENT for analysing the flow over rear spoiler modeled in SOLIDWORKS.
- An optimum compromise between downforce and drag is achieved by varying the angle of
attack to suit the needs of the car at its current speed.
The abstract got accepted in SAE World Congress and Exhibition 2015.
Final Year Project – Jan’14 – Apr’14
Surfactant Assisted Dispersion of Graphene and its Epoxy Nanocomposites VIT University - Different concentrations of Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) with graphene was prepared and
investigated using UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopy for obtaining maximum dispersion of PVP in
graphene.
- Then epoxy nanocomposites with 0.4(wt%) and 0.6(wt%) of graphene dispersed with PVP was
prepared and investigated using Flexural testing, Tensile testing, Scanning electron microscope
(SEM) studies for obtaining desired properties.
Abstract got published in Great Ideas booklet during the event 2014 DOD Maintenance
Symposium organized by SAE International in November 17-20, 2014 in Birmingham, Alabama,
USA.
Abstract also got accepted for poster presentation at Fourth International Conference on
Multifunctional, Hybrid and Nanomaterials, Sitges (near Barcelona), Spain, March 9-13, 2015.
