General information
Dr Tung-Chai Ling is a Research Fellow with PolyU Technology & Consultancy
Company Limited (PTeC). Before rejoining PolyU early this year, he spent about 2 years
as lecturer with the School of Civil Engineering, University of Birmingham (UK). He has
2-and-a-half year’s Postdoctoral research experience at The Hong Kong Polytechnic
University. Dr Ling has specialized in the development of sustainable and
environmentally-friendly concrete products through innovative materials science and
engineering technology. Since 2009, he published in over 38 high impact peer-reviewed
journals with accumulative Impact Factor of 65.8 (based on 2012-ISI’s Web of
Knowledge JCR database). Besides a number of bibliographic conference papers and a
book, he has won a number of research and academic awards as well as two product
patents for his research work. He is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of
Civil Engineering and Construction Technology, and serves as a regular reviewer for a
number leading international journals such as Cement and Concrete Composites, Journal
of Cleaner Production, Environmental Science and Technology, etc. His current research
interests have focused on the recycling of various types of waste materials including
hazardous wastes, materials science and engineering technology in cement/concrete
composites, and the use of smart materials in concrete products for self-cleaning, air
purifying and building energy saving.
