SUMMARY My whole career has grown focused on
the Supply Chain and Logistics,
especially on the design,
implementation and supervisiono of the
activities regarding a network of Food
Retail stores in Portugal, located
primarily in urban areas with national
coverage.
With a deep knowledge of warehouse
operations, reordering processes to
suppliers, transport fleet management,
store based order systems, WS layout
plans, as well as IT systems, I have lead
and managed throughout the past
years many projects to increase the
performance of the logistic network and
service levels to the stores. As a Board
Executive Level, I have also acquired a
group of competences which allowed
me to develop a deep knowledge of
operations and the whole food store
business.

With direct reporting from the General Manager I was responsible for the design,
implementation and management of a large number of projects in the group
supply chain
i) Defining the delivery conditions at each store and development of logistic
solutions for the improvement of delivery in a highly centralized supply chain,
such as delivery windows to the stores, acess environment and type of truck,
etc.
ii) I planned and managed several logistics expansion projects for covering the
enlarged needs of warehouses and analised all the options by Profit & Loss
procedures for each alternative. Study and design of new areas of WS, control
of the budget and follow-up of different stages of the construction work and
defined and managed the start-up of the new operation.
iii) Internal layout of Distribution Centers: I designed and implemented projects for
periodic review of product layout within the WS to improve the productivity
levels and achive a more efficient operation of item picking sequence, stack
ability issues and store operation.
iv) Responsable for the implementation of new technologies and solutions in the
Supply Chain in the areas of WS control, radio frequency, picking voice systems,
stock management and routing and transportation systems.
v) Logistic management of perishable operation: I designed and implemented
new logistic solutions to support a more eficiente operation for perishables and
temperature controlled products within the DC operation.
SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGER 2006 - 2014
DIA Portugal Supermercados Portugal As Supply Chain Manager I had the following responsabilities:
i) Functional supervision of the warehouses: support for identifying actions and
projects to improve the logistic activity and KPI monitoring.
ii) Manager of supply delivery plans to the stores
iii) Direct supervision of subcontracted transport fleet, comercial relationship with
the external companies, definition of means of costing structure and Profit &
Loss analysis for the collaboration agréments.
iv) Monitoring the investment and budget plans within the supply chain area
v) Responsability for the Stock Replenishment Department
RESPONSIBLE FOR COST REDUCTION PROJECT 2010 - 2014

I was responsible for the design, implementation and monitoring of new logistic
processes and plans to obtain annual savings in the supply chain operation by
achieving importante cost reductions (0,05% of total local Group sales annualy).
Study and developing Profit & Loss analysis of each project line in the areas of
Productivity, Waste and Returnables, Reverse Logistics, Transportation, Known and
Unknown losses and many others. These projects were managed across the entire
Supply Chain of the Group, with lasting implications of the work teams which
became part of the success implementation of the overall project.

LEAD PROJECT FOR A NEW DISTRIBUTION CENTER 2005 - 2007
DIA Portugal Supermercados PORTUGAL In the 2005-06 biennium the company developed an agressive plan of new store
openings and so, to the supply chain to achieve the new logistic challenges, it was
planned the need of a new warehouse in Portugal. During this period I led the
project of a new Distribution Center. I was deeply envolved in the several stages of
this project, beginning with the early decision of the main location (different
location models such as gravitic method), budget formulation, layout design, HR
organization and commercial negotiation of several logistic equipment. I also have
monitored the construction stages, prepared the processes and procedures for the
start-up operation, deciding and managing the transfer of stores, equipment and
HR resources.
This project resulted in a new warehouse placed near the city of Torres Novas,
100km north of Lisbon at the confluence of a highway network that serves the main
directions from the center of Portugal, with an area of 30.000 sqm and responded
for 30% of the workload of the group in the country.
RESPONSIBLE FOR LOGISTIC PROJECTS 2000 - 2005
DIA Portugal Supermercados PORTUGAL During this period I was deeply involved in the following projects and processes:
i) Automatic Based Store Order System
ii) Transport Cost Structure
iii) Radio-Frequency systems and Voice-Picking for the internal operations of the
WS
iv) Projects for the expansion of temperature-controlled areas in the warehouses
v) HACCP Projects for Food Safety in the Supply Chain Operation
vi) Cross-Docking Platform in the South of Portugal (Algarve) for high rotation items
vii) In the year 2000 I was part of the team that managed and conducted the
Logistic Network unification of the companies DIA and Minipreço after the
merger operation of this firms.
WAREHOUSE MANAGER 1996 - 2000
DIA Portugal Supermercados PORTUGAL I had the responsibility of the South Region Distribution Center of the discount chain
Minipreço, for the supply of more than 80 stores, almost 70% of sales of the company
at that time.
IT DEPARTMENT OF RETAIL CHAIN MINIPREÇO I joined the discount retail chain Minipreço (part of Grupo Pão de Açucar) during
1994 directly for the IT Department which I was integrated during a 6 month period
as System Manager.
Due to the need to develop the Logistic Area of the group, my career was directed
for a more operational area and in 1995 I had a large Training Program for 2 months
at the headquarters of Mc Lane International Grouo in Temple – Texas (USA).
