c.a.r.u.s. Information Technology AG 2007 - 2008 COO and CIO of c.a.r.u.s. Information Technology AG and of Group

Responsible for 120 employees and € 26 million revenue from 3 business ar-eas: System Business – Management Consulting – Software Development, including sales and marketing responsibility. Initiating development of 4th High-Performance Framework Generation.

2008 The board of directors is reduced from three persons to one person. My En-gagement ends because the investor and key shareholder DII AG doesn’t like strong people besides of them.

1999 - 2007 CEO of c.a.r.u.s. Information Technology AG and of the Group The core GmbH is converted to an AG / PLC (1999). With 25 national and international subsidiaries the business grows to more than 300 employees and a revenue of € 70 million. Heading a management team with up to 36 manag-ers ranging from general manager of subsidiaries to marketing-, sales-, per-sonal- and financial management.

2007 At the beginning of the year the restruction process is positively finished. Some subsidiaries, assets and the office building are sold. The group is con-solidated to 7 subsidiaries and achieves a revenue of € 26 million with an op-erating profit of € 2.8 million and is financially total restructured.

Large innovative projects in the area of very high performance are won (Evotec / Perkin Elmer, European Screening Port, most innovative drug re-search platform worldwide) and supported by public funding in size of € 1.7 million.

Based on SOA / SaaS: re-development of HMS hospital management system to be replaced by the new product myMedis (allowed soft product and cus-tomer migration path). Prepared cooperation with Siemens for international sales of parts of myMedis. It is internationally used within in Siemens leading HMS Soarian.

The strategic redirection to „High Performance“ is completed successfully. The balance sheet is reduced from over € 30 million down to € 12 million.

2005 With Deutsche Industry Invest AG an investor is found, to take over the ma-jority of shares and later the lead in the management board (CEO).

2004 - 2006 Restructuring and reconstruction of the Group. Development of future strate-gies for the Group.

2004 Due to economic stagnation of the IT-market – especially in the area of indi-vidual applications – it became essential to develop and implement a recon-struction plan. A turn-around team was established. The before created plan was put into practice and successfully carried out (end of 2006). Creation of an internal control system (ICS) covering all normal business and daily liquid-ity management.

2003 - 2005 Intensive search for strategic investors. 1987 - 1999 Entrepreneur and MD of the central c.a.r.u.s. GmbH and of all subsidiaries

of c.a.r.u.s. Computer Service GmbH (1987) combined with first contract for a musical ticket reservation system with STELLA Musical Group.

First (innovative) commercial client/server application worldwide, using 1st MS/Windows development version (V 1.03) as client-system. Development of multiple innovative methods e.g. printing tickets on laser printers, notification services, “memory database”.

Constitution of a group with 5 firms. Adoption of object-orientated methods (1989). Initiation for the development of 1st and 2nd Framework Generation (1990 - 1993). These Frameworks became the basis of diverse large individ-ual applications and own products.

Development of first integrated online-electronic-payment system within the STELLA application (1988). Creating cCredit as first software product for on-line electronic payment with cards at point of sale (EFTPoS 1989 based on own framework), which obtained to leading European software-solution in the EFTPoS market (cumulative revenue > € 25 million).

Build-up of system business on the basis of IBM UNIX systems (1990) and became one of the 10 largest IBM Premium Business Partners. Personal ap-pointments to German and European Business Partner Councils of IBM.

Established contract with Europe’s largest wine and sparkling-wine mail-order company Hawesko AG as new customer for an individual wholesale manage-ment system (1993).

Foundation of a shareholding association for leading GmbH. More than 30 employees participated (1993).

Decision, preparation and implementation of ISO 9000 within three month (1996). Adoption of all processes to ISO conformity within the group.

Personal acquisition and supervision of T-Mobile contract on the basis of the 2nd framework generation (1996). Largest project of c.a.r.u.s. with more than 200 man years of development and consulting. Cumulated revenue with con-sultancy software and services (until 2004) > € 40 million.

Contract established with one of the largest German retailer – Müller Ltd., Ulm (1998). Development of an individual retail management system. Cumulated revenue (until 2007) > € 25 million.

Design of new CI / CD in preparation for the conversion from GmbH to AG (1999). Conversion and private placement with approx. 400 shareholders.

The Group has more than 200 employees. Own office building is planned and realised within 6 months (2000).

1978 - 1987 IT-Engineer, Sales-Rep, Branch-Manager, District-Manager Worked for first 9 months as technical engineer, servicing mini-computer in-stallations. Some extended training visits to UK and US.

Change to technical sales (1979) and in succession to commercial sales (1980). Repeatedly participation in performance clubs (“Million Dollar Club”) by out-performance of targets.

Takeover of branch leader position of Hamburg branch (1983) and acted in parallel as key account manager for large projects (e.g. Volkswagen, Airbus, German Railway) and in addition setting up successfully a business partner structure for the first time within Date General in Germany. Responsible for > 20 employees.

District Manager for Northern Germany. Responsible for 50 employees (1985).

Increased turnover from DM 4,5 million to DM 21 million (1982-1986).

Termination of contract (autumn 1986) with the intention to become entrepre-neur.

However, I took over a critical software project (German Railway) as project manager on desire of the MD of Data General with positive execution until spring 1987. Supported marketing, sales and management team for the reali-sation of a project with a revenue of DM 40 million.

Trained as a specialist for specific type of data collection system (data entry). Diverse trainings local and in USA. Started “by own engagement” successful sales activities (1975).

1973 Education at Control Data Institute to become IT-Engineer

1966 - 1974 Soldier – fix-term contract with German Air Force Trained as a radar technician (technical master degree 1970). Youngest sergeant in the Air Force with 19. Youngest staff sergeant in the Air Force with 21. Youngest master sergeant in the Air Force with 23.

Diverse technical, linguistic (English) and functional trainings both locally and internationally. Longer trainings in the US and UK. Stationed at 13 different locations in 7 years.

As sergeant responsible for 20 soldiers at average.

As staff sergeant responsible for radar site and for 45 soldiers and civil em-ployees at average.
