After graduating from the classical high school, he graduated in 2007 in Industrial Design (Bachelor's

degree) with a grade of 110elode/110 at the Second University of Naples. In 2008 he won a scholarship

for participation in the first edition of the Advanced Training Course in Jewellery Design at the Politec-

nico di Milano. In 2010 he graduated in Fashion Design (master's degree) with a grade of 110/110 and

a thesis in Jewel Design (supervisor Prof. Alba Cappellieri, co-rapporteur GianCarlo Montebello).

Since 2007, with his first exhibitions, he has been working at an international level on contemporary

product and jewelry design, exhibiting his work in numerous museums, foundations and galleries.

These include, abroad, the MAD Museum of Art and Design, New York; HOW Art Museum Center,

Shanghai; Franz Meyer Museum, Mexico City; BIFT Institute of Fashion and Technology, Shanghai;

Design Museum, Barcelona; in Italy, the MADRE Contemporary Art Museum, Naples; Triennale Design

Museum, Milan; Ettore Fico Museum, Turin; Plart Foundation, Naples; Cominelli Foundation, Salò;

PAN Palazzo delle Arti, Naples; Corporea Museum, Naples; as well as numerous exhibitions in recogni-

zed international design galleries.

Through dense design activity, he has won numerous awards and special mentions including: 3rd Triple

Parade Biennale for Contemporary Jewellery, Shanghai (2016); Smart Lab (KIICS project) Città della

Scienza, Naples (2013); Preziosa Young - Contemporary Jewellery, Florence (2013); IJA - Italian Jewel-

llery Award, Naples (2009); Taking the tradition into the future feat. Vivienne Westwood, Milan (2008);

Remade in Italy Consumed in China, Università La Sapienza Roma (2007).

Winner of a scholarship, in 2015, she obtained the title of Doctor of International Research (XXVIII cycle)

in Design for Innovation (ICAR13) at the University of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli" (tutor Prof. Patrizia

Ranzo; co-tutor Prof. Carla Langella and Prof. Leonor Ferrao). In 2014 he carries out a period of resear-

ch in Amsterdam in the Netherlands, at the Waag Society - Institute of Art, Design and Technology,

collaborating with transdisciplinary figures including biologists, programmers, neuroscientists. In 2016

he was awarded the Leonardo Prize for his doctoral thesis "Postdigital Design. Objects, Things and

Organisms", at the Palazzo del Quirinale in Rome.

Since 2015, he has been conducting teaching, scientific research and professional activities in parallel.

His theoretical-design research is focused on a critical analysis of the experimental production practi-

ces of contemporary design through a re-evaluation of humanistic values and an intersection between

advanced manufacturing scenarios and the ongoing biotechnological revolution. Among the objecti-

ves is the identification of new production processes in the field of jewelry and product that go beyond

the traditional notion of digital, towards a post-digital convergence. The result of his research activity

- theoretical and practical - is a hybridization between humanistic disciplines of thought, such as philo-

sophy, aesthetics, anthropology, and scientific disciplines, such as biological sciences, materials engi-

neering and production processes.

From 2015 to 2019 she taught in English at IED Moda in Milan (University recognized by Miur) - in the

courses of Design Methodology, Advanced Technologies, Alternative Materials, Eyewear Design,

Thesis Research - and at Tarì Design School in Marcianise - in the courses of Jewellery Design and

History for Goldsmithing. Since 2017 he has taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples in the cour-

ses of Goldsmithing Techniques, Accessory Design, Jewelry Design.

Since obtaining his doctorate, he has continued to collaborate with the Department of Architecture

and Industrial Design of the University of Campania, through an intense activity of writing in scientific

volumes and papers for magazines and international conferences. Since July 22, 2019 she has been a

Temporary Researcher in the disciplinary field ICAR 13 at the same Department.

Since 2007, through her professional activity, Chiara Scarpitti has been designing and producing

contemporary design objects and jewellery characterized by a strong speculative-philosophical

component. The design reflections that trigger the Studio's products investigate a transdisciplinary

contemporaneity, through the hybridization of ancient or particular craftsmanship and new digital

production techniques. The intent of the research is to investigate, from an anthropological and

technological point of view, the meaning of materials, techniques, shapes of objects.

The projects are constructed through a hybridisation of both industrial and artisan processes, inclu-

ding tailoring techniques, digital prints, chemical photoengraving, laser cutting, 3D prototyping,

jewellery, sculpture, biothinking. The same design approach is adopted in the use of materials

ranging from textiles, metals, ceramics and plexiglass to sintered materials and some biological

microorganisms. Everything is aimed at a reflection on contemporary design as a point of inter-

section between industry and craft, technology, nature and humanity. Objects and jewelry follow a

limited series production logic and are the tangible result of both theoretical and experimental

research that combines thought, design and production.
