THE CHANGING OF THE SEASONS
CURTAIN CALL is mailed to Members of the Theatre and Season Ticket Holders.
The Entire Cast of The Pajama Game
T ime, as it always does, marches on and the Little Theatre fondly says farewell to
the 2011-12 season and welcomes the 2012-13 season. Since the last newsletter, the
Little Theatre has had three great shows: a musical, a drama and a comedy/drama.
To send the season off with a bang, the LT hosted the annual awards event, The
Hammy Awards (a recap is on Page 5 of this newsletter). In February and March, the Little Theatre was proud to present eleven performances
of The Pajama Game. The show is a musical based on the novel “7 ½ Cents” by George Abbott
and Richard Bissell. It was directed by John Stenko, with musical direction by Lizzie Brahm-
Kriger, and Daniel Walker joined us again as the choreographer.
This show features a score by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross. The story deals with labor
troubles in a pajama factory, where worker demands for a seven-and-a-half cents raise are
going unheeded. In the midst of this ordeal, love blossoms between Babe, the grievance
committee head, and Sid, the new factory superintendent.
Babe was played by Heather Nettles and Sid was played by David Santiago. Rounding
out the stellar cast was Franco Bottley, Robert J. Roam, Chris Jenkins, Bernadette
Siudock, Ida Anderson, John Palermo, John Lipka, Danielle “DeeDee” Grau, Susan
Cardillo, Javona Angelique, John Hardebeck, Bill Walker, Rena Katz, Mandee Mitchum,
Joey Reader, and Violet Anne.
In April, director Nancy McCormick brought Ernest Thompson’s drama On Golden Pond
to the Little Theatre stage. The show takes place at the summer lake house of Ethel and CONTINUED ON PAGE 3, SEASONS

H ow do I begin to thank all of you for yet another wonderful year at the Little
Theatre? Our volunteers, along with our actors and directors have put thousands
of hours into 8 wonderful shows and several great children’s programs. Words
just don’t seem to be enough for all the hours you put into making our Theatre
the best! Please know that I am deeply grateful to you and I look forward to another wonder-
ful season with you as a part of the Little Theatre.
Our 2012-2013 season, began with the WonderLand Summer Camps in June where the
7 – 13 year-olds presented Aladdin; then, on to our summer show A Flea in her Ear in July and
August; and our regular season will begin in September with Rumors. The Theatre is always
busy!
Have a wonderful summer, and remember, our general membership meetings will
resume in September. Don’t forget to order your season tickets if you haven’t done so and to
pay your membership dues. Hope to see you around the Theatre.

T he Little Theatre of New Smyrna Beach’s WonderLand Summer Camp 2012 had two
sessions and both were wildly successful.
Camp I just ended and was for children ages 7 to 12 years of age. They presented
Aladdin, a comedy based on Arabian Nights by William Glennon. This new version of
the Arabian Nights story is fast-paced and funny! Aladdin was showcased for family and
friends during the last sessions of camp.
Camp II, for children ages 4 to 6 years of age, ran for one week from June 25th to
June 29th. This camp had the theme of "It's Raining Cats and Dogs.” Using popular stories
such as 'Millions of Cats', 'The Cat and the Fiddle', 'The Great Daisy Chase', 'Dog Breath'
and others, the campers were involved in theatre games, activities and crafts that focused
on the theme. The final session, again, was a presentation for family and friends.
Further information on future WonderLand camps and financial aid scholarships is
available by visiting the box office at The Little Theatre, 726 Third Avenue, NSB or by
calling (386)423-1246 between 1pm and 4pm Monday through Friday.

Norman Thayer where the couple spends each summer. It is Norman’s 80th birthday and they
are visited by their daughter, Chelsea, whom they haven’t seen in a while, with her fiancé and
his young son in tow. They are on their way to Europe and ask her parents to watch the 13-
year-old boy while they’re away. Ethel and Norman reluctantly agree and as the summer
fades, the three grow close and the boy becomes the grandson they always wanted.
May held the 2011-2012 season closer, Crimes of the Heart, the Pulitzer Prize winning
Comedy/Drama by Beth Henley. Karen Poulsen directed this warm-hearted play which
teemed with humanity and wit as it examined the dilemmas of three sisters in Hazlehurst,
Mississippi. They have gathered to await news of the family patriarch, their grandfather, who
is living out his last hours in the local hospital. Lenny, played by Heidi Ackerson, is the oldest
sister, unmarried and facing fading marital prospects; Meg, played by Sarah De La Hoz, is
the middle sister, who quickly outgrew Hazlehurst, but is back after an unsuccessful singing
career on the West Coast; while Babe, played by Brittany Kretz, is the youngest, out on bail
after having shot her husband. The play is the story of how its young characters escape the
past to grasp the future. The cast was complete with Joey Reader, Will Bordelon, and LT
newcomer, Ryan McNally. (The cast photo is on Page 4.)
Much like the season closer’s story, the Little Theatre closes the chapter on the past,
the 2011-2012 season, and looks forward to the next chapter, the 2012-2013 season. The new
season is described on Page 7 of this newsletter.

In Remembrance
I n April, our theatre family and the world alike experienced the loss of a truly
exceptional individual. Estie Keyes was a Life Member of the Little Theatre where she
served as the Volunteer Coordinator. Her influence on our theatre is long-lasting. The
volunteer pin that our members
wear so proudly is named for her. Pat
Pack has written a poem honoring Estie,
and we appreciate her sharing this with
us just as Estie shared her love and
enthusiasm for the theatre and every-
one she encountered.
Rarely do we find a friend that touches our souls.
Whose profound joy envelopes us so completely that we long for
her welcoming smile, her laughter, her presence,
long after she bids us a final farewell.
She lived her strong faith with humility and exuberance, serving those within her reach.
We, who loved and respected her in life, honor her memory in death.
Go with God, dear Estie, Go with God

D on’t miss the upcoming A Flea in Her Ear on July
27, 28 & 29* and August 3, 4 & 5*. All shows are
8pm, except for 2 pm matinees.*
A Flea in Her Ear is an adaptation by Frank Galati
of Georges Feydeau's Boulevard farce.
This explosively funny version of Georges Feydeau’s
classic features a complex series of mistaken identities,
clandestine assignations and misplaced jealousies which
happen at breakneck speed. A riotous medley of slamming
doors, revolving beds and wildly amiss gun shots will leave
audiences happily breathless from laughter. Directed by
