Marquis Hill BlacktetMarquis Hill is a Chicago-born trumpeter, composer, and winner of the 2014 Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz International Trumpet Competition. Hill and the Blacktet will present a "late-modern spin on Jazz standards, capturing the essence of this rich oral tradition."

Robert Jospé Express – TrioThis trio, formed in 2012, includes musicians Robert Jospé, Butch Taylor, and Dane Alderson. They play a percussive mix of jazz, rock, funk, and Latin with a contemporary electric sound. In addition to a main stage performance, Robert Jospé will lead an interactive performance, “The Journey of Clave from Africa to the America’s” on the Amphitheater Stage.

The Rad TradsNew York City based Rad Trads bring their love of the game to a diverse style of soulful American music, with influences spanning all genres of music. Featuring three powerful horns, a driving rhythm section, and three captivating lead vocalists, The Rad Trads consistently win over audiences with their relentless energy, charisma, and enthusiasm. (They will also lead the Dare County student workshop on Monday, October 9.)

Davina & The VagabondsThis rollicking quintet is held together by Davina’s keyboard playing, with acoustic bass, drums, and a spicy trumpet and trombone horn section. The group’s focused, clean sound and emphasis on acoustic instruments is novel to both blues and jazz worlds, and sets the show closer to New Orleans than to Chicago.

Second Marine Aircraft Wing Jazz Ensemble Based in North Carolina, this group consists of 51 Marine Musicians who continue the proud tradition of excellence in military music that has become the hallmark of the Marine Music Program. The 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Jazz Ensemble will pay tribute to jazz as an American art form by playing a variety of swinging staples from the modern jazz ensemble literature.

First Flight High School Honors Jazz Band Made up of approximately 20 student performers, First Flight High School Honors Jazz Band is directed by Bob Ebert.

Mint Julep Jazz BandThe Mint Julep Jazz Band recreates the hot jazz sounds of the 1920’s, 1930’s, and early 1940’s through arrangements based on original recordings from the jazz age and swing era and original tunes inspired by that time period. The Mint Julep Jazz Band is based out of Durham, North Carolina and is led by trombonist Lucian Cobb and vocalist/swing DJ Laura Windley. Their little big band lineup of 4 horns, rhythm section, and vocalist draws musicians from the educators and former students of North Carolina universities with vibrant jazz programs.
